but u know in fast and the furious how when their driving there manual cars, and u can actualy see the gears, like the positioning of the gear where u gotta place ur stick to change the gear, well how come all the manual cars got the leather covering over the stick and it doesnt show the gears? i dont know how to explain it, but mmmm......u know how on a auto car, under the shifter u can actually see D,N,P, like park, drive and all that stuff, well how come manual cars u dont see that, and in some cars such as in FnF u can see them?:spit: :sly: :eek7: :cwm27: :lol: i still dont know what im talking about lol, anyone know the answer?:biggrin: :bigthumb:

The gears are marked, on the stick.... which your hand is over. The idea being you look at the gear pattern and dont have to keep taking your hand off to see where the next gear is. It works for most people, unless you have the memory of a goldfish.

well what about the track type thing i think he might be talking about? In newer more expensive cars it actually has the h pattern.

Like on our civics, it has a shift boot but you can still visually tell what gear you are in. But the simple patter above would be layed out in a track type thing which wouldn't be perfect because shifting isn't at perfect 90 degree angles, but something like that is what i think he's talking about.
