3000GT's are really slow. Obviously not a VR4, but I took an ES (or SE? SL?... I forget) from a ~35mph roll up to about 70mph and he dropped right out as soon as he saw he was losing. Sorry, no pics this time :frown:

How much hp did the non VR4s have? Like 170ish???

I have no idea, I think maybe 200hp. They're big, heavy V6's though so I had a huge advantage there since we both had about the same hp.

Base model: 3.0 sohc V6 161hp/185tq
SL model: 3.0 dohc V6 218hp/205tq
VR4 model: 3.0 dohc twin turbo AWD V6 320hp/315tq

I know I saw the letter "S" on the back so it must have been the 218hp SL. After reading this article, I really want to buy a VR4 now :smile:

The SL, which is one step down, had 218 hp with 205 ft-lbs. of torque, and a 0-60 time of 8.5 seconds. Lastly the base model, had 161 hp with 185 ft-lbs of torque (no 0-60 time posted, but im sure it was slow as balls if the 218 hp one was running 0-60 at 8.5:bloated: ) Hope this helps.

Dude my DX engine got to 60 in just a bit slower than that. I timed it once and got around 9 seconds... That's hilarious

Slow as balls is right Kamikaze. Once I beat a 3KGT in a street race (obviously base model), but didnt bother to post it because I figured he must not have been really racing. I stomped him pretty bad. Plus, me posting that I beat a 3K in an Accord would be a magnet for all kinds of flames.:rolleyes:

haha i couldnt believe how slow the non VR4 models are, thats ridiculously slow. My car is 0-60 in 6.7, almost a full two seconds faster. Itd be about the equivalent of me racing an M3, which def would not be pretty (the M3 with a 0-0 time of 5 seconds).

Yeah 3000gt's are pretty slow, my friend killed one in his stock prelude non-vtec.

yeah, my 1995 ford mustang V6 auto, with all 140HP in like 1.5 tons can pull away from an SL, at least i think it is the SL

According to some 3000GT / Dodge Stealth devoted website I pulled up, the VR4 weighs nearly 3800, so the base and SL couldn't be any less than like 3650.

The VR4 has the added weight of two turbos, two intercoolers, and the AWD differential. 3800lbs sounds a little high, but they are big cars and I haven't seen otherwise.

VR4 weighs 3737 lbs, SL weighs 3263 lbs. , and the base model weighs 3131 lbs.

There are a few SL guys hitting high 13s with a bucket of mods (no turbos or supercharger) otherwise, they are not quick at all. Trust me when I say, the SL owners would rather have that then a 10 second civic. “Can’t polish a turd” is usually what I hear.

As a general rule, I don’t race Civics because I have them way overmatched. Of course there are some seriously modded ones that will whoop on me, but those are few and far between.

I concur - a base model doesn't stand a chance against much at all. The SL is ok, not going to win races but it'll run solid in traffic.

I would take a VR4 over any civic just because of looks and having a powerful AWD. You can polish a turd, but it will be hard to keep it streetable at the same time...

Uhmm, rather dont. You never know if all of them are the same, modded or unmodded. Its like when you beat a GT or LS1, dont think you can beat them all. At times its the driver, not the car that youve beaten. :dunno:

Ditto. N/A 3000's are STILL faster than any of those N/A econobox's, and look 100x better.

Anyway... I had to reply to educate you people, the last thing we need is more ignorance towards these cars. Base's have THE SAME HP as an SL (222 fed spec, 218 cali-spec), and they are nearly 150lbs lighter.

bases are FASTER than SL's.
The only base's that were slower were the 97-99 years, which came with a SOHC engine and 161 HP. So if you pull up to an N/A, be more afraid if there is no SL label, unless it has a hoop spoiler.

So yes, accord, there is a point in buying base's, which are faster than V6 Mustangs and Camaro's. You sacrifice a little luxury (leather seats and sunroof) for a little speed.

listen ricer boy...i am going to give you a quick schooling in 3000GT and stealth's
the 91' to 93' stealth came in four (4) trims
base= sohc with 167 hp....
ES= dohc engine with 222hp
RT= dohc engine with 222hp
RT TT= doch twin turbo 300 hp

the base, es and rt all weigh the same at 3100 to 3200 pounds
the RT TT weighs more at like 3700 to 3800 but is no slow poke...

now the 94 to 96 ( last year the stealth was made due to the fact for 5,000 more you could have a viper....
the base was droped fromt the line up....all that was offered was the es,rt and rr tt...the rt tt got more hp at 320hp and 315tq...95 the aws( all wheel sterring) was droped from the car....

the 3000 gt is pretty much the same excpet for the fact that the base got the 222 hp engine and until 97 when it got the shitty 167 hp engine... the sl and the rt are the same car just different names...the vr-4 and the rt tt are the same cars but guess what different names..and
and i used to have a 91 stealth r/t and i could waste 5.0's, civics,


and as far as them being over priced shit like you said ...guess what they are and always will be better looking and faster than your shitty bodykit piece of shit civic that i see bout 12 to 15 on any given day....why because they are cheap and any high school kid with ricer intentions can affored them and better yet can pick up parts at your local auto zone or advance auto parts stores.....lol...i will stick with my 3S car....
