Alright, i am sitting around my house thinking about cars i would consider buying (like usual), and image entered my mind. I either wanna go muscle car, or "luxury" car (something along the lines of a BMW 3 series) with style. Anyways, my own image is really want entered my mind. I have recently been a strictly baggy jeans and t-shirt guy (literally its pretty much all i wear). I guess i am sorta floating around on style as of more recently, unsure of what to do. I just want people to give pictures and suggestions of what i should go for (i am 16 going on 17 by the way). I don't wanna dress like a complete prep (sweater vests are a no way, although i do like wearing sweaters...), but i am not the surfer/chill guy that always wears shorts and sandals. Plus what formal wear (for when i go to occasions that require jacket and tie, formal occasions). I have the normal suit, but i want something different. Just give me some advice, thanks.

....have you considered kaki(sp:( ) pants with a t-shirt?

I believe it's khaki, i think, and i have worn them a bit a while ago. I gotta go rummage through my closet and see if i have any and see how they look. Any pictures and/or specifics are good.

You're talking to the right person. But I'm gonna need some more info. Like what look are you trying to achieve? You say you wear jeans and t-shirts, but you want a change right? Nothing too extreme (ie: preppy or surfer). What kinda music you like? You like bimmers, so you can't be all bad. ;) What's your scene? People (and fashion) can generally be categorised.
As for myself, I'm a khaki fan. Currently cargos are about all I wear (I wear jeans occasionally, I don't like the roughness of them). I transcend styles and I'm not stuck to one thing. I can do grunge, prep, surf, thug, whatever. I like clothes and fashion.

Well, i'm not sure what look i am trying to go for really, but i am not looking for 1 specific look, i just want to expand what i have now. Music i like punk (not as much as i used to), now i am more metal and darker, more emotional rock (i hate how metal heads dress). The people i hang out with really range, i hang out with jocks, metal heads, drummers (i am one too), pot heads, semi-preps, punks, skaters, bikers, and generic (lol, i don't know how else to classify some of them). I am not the same as the rest of my group, so i am not going to change to look like them. I guess i am sorta going for the sorta prep look, while retaining the trouble-some youth thing.

Ahh... I see! You're going for the look I call: thuggy prep--of which I am a big fan. This usually means dressing up in the style of GAP, Abercrombie, American Eagle, Eddie Bauer, etc... but with a thuggish and/or sloppy flair. And this doesn't include any of those true prep clothes either, like geeky vests or gay sweaters. There are a few stores in the mall here that actually caters to thuggy preps. Now thuggy doesn't necessarily mean hip hop, it can be from the rock side as well. See, the great thing about thuggy prep is that you have a huge variety of clothes to select from because you're mixing several styles.
Okay, this includes baggy jeans and khakis (preferably cargos). I think tech pants are also included. Tops include t-shirts, shirts, tutlenecks, and jackets. Sorry I can't get specific. I'm a big fan of solid colors myself and generally HATE flashy logos. Shoes may be Docs, Tims, Lugz, and certain sports shoes. Tops can be a cap (non-baseball type). I don't think dew rags (sic) will work.
Umm... I can't think of anything more to write.

That hits a little closer to the "wigger" appearance than i would like to venture (not to mention i am a hell of a white guy). I would say more of a rebel-prep than a thug-prep. I know what you are talking about, and don't think thats what i want. Something like skater shoes (i love them, i have always worn them), khakis or something of the like, and a sweater with stuff like a necklace and/or ring. I am also trying to convince my parents to let me get the labret piercing (below bottom lip, above chin, ya know?). I have blue eyes and shaved brown hair, i am about 6 foot and medium to strong build (not fat).

Hmm... I'm still having a difficult time picturing rebel. I relate clothes to music, and I'm guessing it's rock.
Btw, I'm asian (look at the avatar), so there's no way I can be accused of being a wigga. Unless... I was white-washed and was like those white guys who try to be "black"... (ie: Eminem = idiot & loser) . And I wouldn't really call that style wigga, which, IMHO, would be the stuff I find at Mr Rags. White guys wearing Mecca, Echo, Phat Farm, Pure Playaz, etc.. That's my definition of wigga. Oops, OT. Sorry.
I don't quite understand that "hell of a white guy" line? Sounds like you're saying you're a hot guy or something. Okay... High self esteem is good, I guess.

I think skater shoes are awesome.

The skater culture is interesting, IMHO. Since I see it, fashion-wise, as a fusion between rock clothing and hip hop clothing. This can be correlated in music my the phenomenon known as "rock rap". Prep comes along because hip hop is seeing a huge influence (fashion-wise) by that culture. This can be seen in some styles of Echo and Sean John, et al--the vests, the shirts (no, not t-shirts), the jackets, and the shoes.
Is this what you're looking for?

The hell of a white guy is meant to point out how much of a white guy i am, lol (i'm russian and german). What i am thinking now is that i want to use the semi-prep style, and contort it a touch. The rebel part is basically to give you the idea that i don't want a full on prep look.

Naw, i'm not into the hip hop mix at all. In generel, i can say that i am not into any of the hiphop style at all, i actually dislike the mix od hiphop and skate style (although i am not a skater).

What kind of sweater is classified as gay, or does it make you gay when you put it on?
What seperates a gay sweater from a "cool" one?
I dont get it

Ones with designs or patterns that you would see in poorly made, mid 80's movies...

I'm using the slang term of "gay", which is defined as something that is stupid, ugly, and/or not cool.
A gay sweater may not be the same as a fruity sweater. I think a gay sweater is something your grandma picked out for you--tight, old school, and generally bad design. Now I'm not saying all grandmas pick out ugly sweaters, but I think you get my point. And I think cy hits the target right there. I actually see people wear these sweaters, they are the super preps.

I'd recommend green hair! :D
Well those aforementioned companies (A&F, AE, GAP, EB, RL, TH, etc...) all cater to semi-preps I think. They're nice clothes that aren't too gay (homosexual, ie: Banana Republic) or too preppy--though A&F (and AE?)pushes it sometimes. Of course, you might be one of those people who dislike brand names (or their prices), but you'll be able to find alternatives.

--> ahem... the prep KING steps into the thread :D <--
well those sweater vests are so out of style, so don't worry about those :)
I get most of my shit from Ralph Lauren, Polo stuff rules. My favorite combo of clothes is just a nice pair of khakis and a polo shirt, it's casual, and looks "cool" IMO
i like knit sweaters, they're coo for winter. I got a couple nice ones from American Eagle lately. I think khakis are the coolest pants though, i probably have like 10 pairs of khakis lol half of them are RL or polo golf, hehe
Like sombody mentioned earlier the usual companies, abercrombie, American eagle, Ralph Lauren, Gap, etc.
I think Gap has had alot of crap for the last couple months though, they haven't any good shit for so long. and i think Hilfiger went downhill also
The kind of shoes i wear right now are... well hard to explain, but they're popular right now. fuck, how do i explain, lol :) they're like leather, and there's like sewing  around the front, i gotta find a picture.
