Yeah you could run a modified HEI dist. be sure to have it recurved for your cam. Put a good coil and I think its either mallory or msd makes an a performance module.

You may have to get a really low profile air cleaner, until you get the cowl. The RPM manifold is pretty high.

I don't know the numbers but they had round exhaust ports, are rare, and expensive.

This would be a good substitute for the cam I told you before:
51-225-4 Comp. Cam 284/296, 240/246 @ .050,
.507/.510 lift, 110 degree centerline
no 12 ram air III head
no 13 '70 grand prix/ firebird head
They are both 72cc D-port heads.

OK here is what im planning to put into my 400 aside from heads
Comp Xtreme Camp 240/246 @ .050 $119.95
Comp High Energy Hydraulic Lifters $89.95
Speed Pro Forged Std. Bore Pistons (10:1 Comp. w/ 72cc) $34.95 (each)
Comp Cams Magnum Rocker Arms 1.52 Ratio $145.95
Edelbrock Preformer RPM Intake $189.95
Holley 4160 750 CFM Electric Choke $265.95
B&M Holeshot Converter 3000 stall $352.95
MSD Super HEI Ignition Kit w/ 6A box $199.95
anyone have any comments on this list? all prices are in USD and are from summit racing
Im hoping to find either no.12 or no.13 heads to go in rather then spending the big bucks for edelbrock heads
