Looking to purchase a 240sx

Hey guys,

my brother is looking for a 5-8 year old 240sx (95-98).
If you guys know of any 240sx's for sale in a 300 mile radius from Lexington, KY please let me know.

does he want one stock or does it not matter? How much does he want to spend?

Sorry about that - should have mentioned the fact that I have looked at pretty much all the online resources, but since we have a pretty big 240sx community here on AF I thought that someone might be selling his/her car on here and know of someone else that is.

We are currently looking at this car :

But it seems a bit overpriced. What would you think is a fair value for it? KBB says under $9000 at "Good" condition and around $9300 if it's "Excellent."

generally, the '97/98 models are higher priced because they're obviousley the newest and also the most rare of all the 240SX models. there were less made. i don't personally know of anyone who is selling one, unfortunatley. when you say you've tried all online resources, have you checked the classifieds sections of websites such as www.freshalloy.com, www.240sxforums.com, www.zilvia.net etc.?

i got 8k for a red 97 with 64k miles, leather, sunroof... stock cassette radio, but that's gone in favor of a nice CD system soon.. couple busted light covers on the front and a little bit of a rattle in the back (trunk loose.. adjusting the latch worked to an extent).. but yeah.. 8k.. honestly, though, i don't think the lady knew what it was worth... i'm sure she could've found plenty of ricers that would pay 9.5 for it and paint it lime green with blue lightning bolts and put exhaust on it the size of a coffee can.. but whatever...

I test drove (and came inches from buying) a 98 5sp non-se model that had 66k miles; they wanted $9995 (dealership), but something tells me they would have taken $8k. So yeah, that white one is a bit overpriced :).

i want 6300 for mine.

Well.................I think $11,800 sound reasonable- I'm not sure what the depriciation of them in the US is like- but if the recent 240SX trend says anything.......then these cars are gonig to hold tier value- but personally I like the looks of the one you just showed there :smile:

Its the sad truth but that price is about right. Thats whay ive seen them for around here atleast. I would not buy it for that insane price though. The 97-98's are the most expensive 240 out there and with the new demand the price is upped, It looks to be in good condition. Perhaps you can talk him down to 10 out the door. 9.5 might be pushing it but you never know. If you didnt already know the ppl that buy 240's are not rich, they mainly buy it to do a swap, spending that much money on one, and then another 5k to do a swap is just too much money. 17k for an stock SR powered 240... :bloated: My 95' was 6.5k so im happy with it, Dayna got a very good deal on hers, so did alot of other guys here. So that 11,800 is very pricey for a play car, unless you gona keep it stock, its still akinda high.
