I bought my Accord year ago in the respectable dealership near Toronto. Car had 128K kilometers and came with 30 day warranty. I was happy from the car and drove 2300 km around area first 2 weeks.
Some day I hear engine more noisy and check oil dipstick. It was dry! I add 1 L of oil and go to the dealership next day and complain about that. They run oil consumption test .... I was two times there and they gave me finally paper with result 1L per 1500 km ...bla.. bla is normal even for new engine?????????????
I said mine 3rd. Gen. Accord with 300K on odometer never eat any noticeable amount of oil!!! They just can't say anything.
Next oil change I swap to Mobil 1 5W-30. OK. great engine works better...bla...bla... But same dropping oil level.
I know people saing change valve seals, use thiker oil, even use Castrol 5W-50.
OK. 10W-30 not big deal, but it not good for our winter. Valve seals in the 128K Honda engine? Can't believe.
Any suggestions! :thinkerg:

Its a "normal condition" for honda's to burn 1qt of oil per 3,000 miles -- some will burn more while others will burn less. Try using Quaker State High Mileage or a synthetic blend. For full synthetic -- Mobil 1 or Royal Purple -- Amsoil is good stuff also.
5w-30 is pref. year round for Honda's - I run Penzoil Synthetic 5w-50 right now & mostly Mobil 1 0w-50. The car is mostly used for racing & rarely street driven.

Thank's Jackasssi. In case of 1 qt. per 3000 miles I've don't start this treat...
But mine calculations for yours units are 1 qt. per 1000 miles.
May be my problem is just not understanding new technology and and some extra buck for Mobil Synthetic....

Thats not normal, maybe your piston rings need replaced, it should not be burning that much oil...that's quite a bit....And dont switch to synthetic, if its burning that much on normal oil, it will only be worse with synthetic....

OK. Thanks, may be mine first post was unclear. That are some more details below.
Car is running with synthetic around 10K kilometers. First 5k was conventional OIL from dealership, after replaced to Mobil 1 5W30 Sypersyn. I run 8K with synthetic and add around 3L before next oil change. After second oil change I pass 2K and add 1L of same Mobil 1 5W30 Sypersyn after 1.8K....
All that time OIL level dropping with the same speed from date I has purchase the car.
I have no place to go with piston rings replacement by myself. If I go for that, I should pay likely, and want to be sure.
So how I can test what exactly the problem. May be it valve seals? I still beleive may be for some minor defect or otherwise I am lost.
Some friend gave me advice sell the car...But I like this Accord how it on the road, how it looks. Sell and where to go? Honda dealership kick me off with that problem.
I don't modify the car as I wish before...

Take it to a good mechanic, or even a Honda Dealership and have then diagnose it...

You guys use WHAT oil!?!?
Anybody that doesnt use valvoline doesnt know shit about engines, nor has ever taken the valve cover off one that didn't run valvonline. Check out www.geocities.com/d4h8a1 and check out my CRX Si engine. I bought the car from off a lot for $1000 and this is what they had done to the engine. The damage is from not using oil, but look at the super descusting, nasty wasty oil vomit all over the place. Its so sad.

I prefer to use Amsoil in my 1988 Accord and it doesn't really use up that much oil. I might go through adding a quart for every 5,000 miles, so I would have to agree that it seems that your car is using more oil than is normal, at least based off my own experience.
I personally would take it to a Honda dealership and see if they can diagnose the issue. Could be engine seals, oil drain plug, bad gaskets, piston rings, or maybe something else I can't think of that's leaking oil. Do you notice any oil buildup on the outside of the engine anywhere? Or try cleaning the outside of the engine and then see if you notice any oil buildup or running down anywhere on the outside of the engine. Might help give you a clue as to where the leak or problem is.

See report below
0.5 L oil added in the report but added from lower to upper mark and realy takes 1L of oil.
I didn't know from L to H need 1 L of oil.
:banghead:
..and I still adding 1 L every 1500 km or 1 qt every 1000 miles
