Top Speed

HEy everyone, just wondering what peoples top speed is. i have an 88 hb and i topped out at 200kp/h (124mp/h) is that good or not? the engine is completly stock exept for a pod air filter. Post Your Top Speed!!

Fastest top speed in a car has been 265 in an old SLR5000 Holden Torana. Imagine a car the weight of a Civic with RWD, a 351 chev and 4sp ;) It had more to go, but it was a '70s car and the nose was floating a bit :bloated: :bloated: :bloated:

Deja Vu reading this - I watched Emil's video of 210km/h in 4th gear in his old ZC powered Civic :bigthumb:

ZC+L3Tranny=Insaine top speed. I think someone estimated almost 200 mph. Not that you could get it there in one piece, but its cool to think about.

I will see how fast they realy go before to long, or die trying :sunglasse

Its really hard to say....considering the Si speedo stops at 125mph...


If I had to guess, id say anywhere from 145-150mph with my zc. Now before the bs bullshit starts, this is an estimate....I pinned the speedo at about 4200 rpm in 3rd gear, and took the motor all the way to about 4500 rpm in 5th. The motor was still climbing, but I got scared and let it fall back down in neutral.

This was not on a straight road either....2 lane expressway with many turns, so when I got into 5th gear, turns started to feel a little hairy.

Man, I miss that motor...

i only had mine up to 100mph twice in my std.....once while racing a crx and once while catching up to a focus....but that's all i needed to go up to

i got 145mph in mine when the limiter came in.., at the time it was a stock zc. havent tried it with mods...

my mates crx vtec went off the clock 155+ :iceslolan

I got up to about 109 on a slight downhill on the highway in my STD.
On a flat surface it stops at 95mph.

Did te whole DASH plenty on times, only in 4th gear, Engine still climbing..I never touched 5th doing the dash

The top speed I posted about earlier was with a pg7 ecu (89 Teg), which has no speed limiter. I have the stock Zc pm7 now, and it tops out at 115mph.

Are there different versions of the pm7????

Huh, I got my hatch to like 140 mph with a chiped D16A6 motor and trany in it... Toped out fifth gear.

I think the ZC+L3 combo is good to at least 160mph... But I am betting closer to 180.

120 in my 4 door with sohc zc.

about 135 mph bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th gear with my a6 hehe good times good times... fastest legal speed was 110 mph down the back stretch of beaver run raceway near pittsburgh

140MPH @ 6,900RPM in my EG with the built Ls motor and ls tranny.

163MPH @ 6,500RPM in my friends porsche 944. (scarry)

I went 210 in a 2003 mustang svt that was built like a mother fucker.

I almost pissed my pants it was so frigin fast.

i had my crx speedo bouncing off the shroud, id say i was going around 135.

around 165 - 170 km/h on the stock D15B2 with over 265000 km then i got scared and let off as well lol

115 in a bone stock 89 DX sedan.....i got my current 89 DX sedan up to a little over 100, but never tried to push past that

160 in my CRX w/ B18a swap clocked by a bullet bike.......

Actually beat that today, got it to where I'd say it's at 138.

i had 124 mph outa 4th on my ZC, and i never hit the limited, had about 125mph in 5th never topped out

I got up to 110mph in my 91 STD with mpfi swap, before teh swap I got it to 95mph, so thats a big differeence.

i've got like 115 in my STD without teh MPFI took a bit but fastest ever i've went was 180ish im my buddies build and blown S2k.

175 km/h on the D15 now :D with plenty of reserve... yet again tho... to scared for a ticket

147 MPH in my friends 98 prelude
115 mph in my hatch..it just wont go anymore faster

118 in my canadian DX. Damn motor slows down when I put it in 5th gotta do it all in 4th heheh!

139 with my b18a, could've went faster but i have stock tires and going even 100mph on stock rated tires is STUPID.

btw, USDM hondas dont have a speed limiter.. your top speed is theoritically limited by the rev limiter in 5th gear, however, horsepower of the car and weight will affect this in such away you wont be picking up any more speed after a certain point..

uh i have no clue....pegged out the speedo and still climbing past 8 grand in my car.

well lets see, 190 in the crx then it started to get too light so i backed off, 195 in a 89 accord then governed, and i joined 200+ club in my old neon(that explains my blown head gasket and timing belt) and when i worked at volvo they had no prob at all joining the 200 club.......oh yeah its all in km/h....i almost forgot m my friends astro van almost did 180, and the new ford rangers max at 145 km/h

damn i was gonna say 200+mph in a neon....thought u were smokin there for a tad bit...not sayin it cant be done but damn! then i saw km/h :headshake

I just have a quick question. call me stupid, but when people talk about the l3 tranny and the zc goin about 160 do they mean the si tranny because I am pretty sure mine says l3 on it, but going like 80 I am at 4 grand so i don't see how they can go to 160 plus.

all 88-91 5 speed trannies are marked L3. there is a casting above the fill plug that you tell which model it is by. check out www.d16a.com under ef tech and L3 trannie's for the different models.

I know I hit 132mph on mine, or at least thats what my GPS said.
