1995 Camaro Z28

I have an Acura Integra LS right now and im selling it to purchase a Z28. I heard the 95's were better than the 1993 and 1994 is this true? Also i wanted to know the pros and cons of purchasing this car. I was planning on going w/ the 6 spd. Manual. Is that a better choice since i always hear of camaro's with their transmissions needing to be rebuilt. I just want a general opinion of the 95 Z28 and if you woud suggest any other car for about 7500-8000.

Also: A list of first modifications would be great along w/ Brands and approx. prices to purchase them for.

First off just want to say what's up, came over here from camaroz28.com...to answer your question about tranny rebuilds, yes they are going to break sometime, more often than most cars but that's given..6 speed is a fine choice, wouldnt have it any other way...I guess you could say the 95's are a better choice than the 93's and 94's, especially the 93's...both the 94 and 95 have 3.42 rears while the 93 has a mere 2.73...plus traction control was introduced on all the V8's in 95...but get the best deal, you'll still have the same raw horsepower (LT1's) Good Luck

Couldn't have said it better myself. I to came over from camaroz28.com. You will love this car. 6 speed is awsome. Wish i had one. :frown: But as far as first mods. How much do you have to work with, would be the best way to start. But i will give you a list.

1993 LT1 still used a speed density system while 1994-1996 are MAF. Also one of the huge advantages of the 1995 over the the 94 and 93 is the vented optispark assembly which prevented condensation from building up and shorting out the optical sensor. The optispark costs a good $500 in parts to replace and another $1000 in labor is my guess, or if you want to do it yourself get ready for a big pain in the as... the optispark is mounted infront of the car behind the waterpump and from what ive heard requires the engine to be removed to access! I have a 1994 lt1 in my 1983 montecarlo which fortunatly provides a enough room to access everything =)

1994 is still a good engine but the optispark is something that should be considiered. You can also convert to the vented distributor system if your feeling brave

93's are the slowest lt1's but 96 and 97 are the best with 310 hp and auto's with stall converter's are faster and more consistant than 6-speed.

if you are going to spend upwards of $7K on a 1995 Camaro Z28 please get ahold of me 1st.. i will sell you mine for about $7k. no major work needed.

First of all, I would think that with 7500-8000 you could just about buy an LS1 camaro if you wanted (1998-2002 Z28 and about 300 whp stock). For 4500-5000 you could buy a pretty nice 95 Z28 and have about 3000 left for go fast parts. If you want the fastest Z28 you can get for 8000 buy an LT1 ('93-'97) and throw a cold air intake, headers, cat-back, and gears on it and you'll probably be under 8 grand and be able to smoke just about any stock LS1 and some *slightly* modded ones.
