Sorry but this is troubling to me. I can see it in the near future some rich guy with some incurable disease decides he'll buy a clone to have his brain implanted onto the clones body.

The whole idea of cloning and genetic engineering scare the hell out of me! I am just really worried for the future and what it holds. My husband and I have just started buying organic meat from an organic butcher because of the whole genetic modification thing. We have survived for centuries without it, why do we have to start using it now? I can’t help but feel that something disastrous is bound to happen, probably not in my lifetime, but certainly in generations to come. :(

Anyone ever see "Island of Dr. Moreau"?

Good things might just come from this, too, folks.

These debates always get so messy and emotive. People tend to have one view and stick to it regardless of any information presented to them. So I typically tend not to get to involved... But for some reason I've started typing this post so I may as well explain my position...
I've got quite a grounding in science and technology, so I tend to sit on the side of the 'scientists' and get annoyed with the hard line 'greenies' who simply find a single paper that supports thier view and refuse to conduct a full and unbiased literature review on the subject.

Anywho, without getting into much detail on the human cloning thingee, I feel that it may have it place, but it certainly needs to be regulated to some degree.

I like the idea of playing God. If we can play God, then didn't God mean for us to play God?

Too much power in the wrong hands can spell disaster, however the right amount in the right hands could be good.

I get kinda scared by stuff like this too. Stuff like Matrix, where humans ultimately ended up bringing on their own demise "for the sake of science." Good things may come from it, but I certainly don't want 25 more me's walking around.

The martix is a cool movie, but the future that it paints is impossible given our current grasp of the required technologies, there needs to be several major leaps in AI, GM and other acronyms before that can happen. :)

i'm against cloning... i don't think we should bring life into this world and then just kill it for it's parts
imagine making babies to kill them for their body parts.... wrong

It's not like i'm gunna protest against it or anythin, i just don't like the idea
