I recently purchased a very expensive resin kit, a 1978 Ford XC Falcon Cobra hardtop to be exact. the kit comes with a body, interior and not much else. so my major plan begins with fitting a much more detailed chassis, an engine and doing a spectacular paintjob. It's a big job, and it's cost a mint just to get the car. I've got an engine to put into the car (a 351 Windsor V8, modified to look like the correct clevo) but I need a better chassis, as my 71 charger's chassis was about 30mm too long and the wheel tubs were too wide. can anybody help me find something affordable I could fit to the kit? and how should I go about removing the hood? also, I want to fit a fully detailed engine bay as well. I know I'm asking a mouthful here, but I REALLY want this kit to stand out amongst my other more straight-forward builds. any advice?

this isn't a project thread, this is an advice thread as to how to go about such modifications. I might put up pictures of the body, however. it weighs a shitload more than a normal one, too.
