What do you guys think?

I'm only 13 and I really like to draw, but I'm not that good. Here is some of my stuff, what do you think?

This is the last one. I don't really like the front on anything that I do. I kind of like the rear, but the front always sucks for some reason.:frown:

They don't suck. They are good line drawings, but like you said the front end needs a little work. Just a few suggestions:

1) Keep the bottom line going straight across from the side to the front.
2) Angle the front back a little more.
3) Angle the hood down just a little bit more, not much though.
4) When you wrap the headlights around, keep them parallel to the ground.
5) Bring the bumper on the front out just a little bit more.

Try looking at a side view of a skyline and also maybe a Mercedes Benz. These have the squarish design like the type of cars you draw. Maybe you'll get a few ideas. Keep up the good work and practice. :smile:

hey, they look alot like mine when I first started. And now, if I do say so myself, I'm pretty damn good:thefinger. You just need to stick to it and soon you'll get better. I used to trace every thing (car wise) I could find, so try to print out black and white pics of cars and then trace them. I think it helps you learn the flow of a car. Hope this helps!

That's what we're here for. Also it's great that you're getting an early start. Just remember that the ability to draw doesn't come over night. It could take years for you gain and apply the skills you learn. I know one thing that helped was taking art classes in high school as an elective or for the fine arts credit. Just keep practicing. Also, if you read through the tutorials post at the top of the forum, Asaenz has a tutorial for shading that is very helpful. If you have any questions, or want more critique on your drawings or help, then you know where to go. Good luck. :biggrin:

Thanks dude. I can't take any art classes though. It really sucks. I want to but I have all these extra things. I take all advanced classes, so I don't have time for any electives.
I'm working on a drawing right now. I can only seem to do drawings from the side. I want to do a 3/4 BMW M3, but I can't.

These are the drawings I like most. It seems that you're a big fan of BMW's, that third one (the rear part) looks a lot like E36 BMW, you're doing good. Drawings like yours motivate me to draw.

If you want to get better, try drawing by using a photo of a car. Dont attempt to modify anything, just copy it. It's all about eye-hand coordination.

Nice drawings. Like zwaag said, tracing cars or anything else is a good way to start, but don't just trace it, try to understand how things works together at the same time, how the wheel arch stand from the windows, the size of the wheel in comparison with the size of the car, ect... The next step would be to work from pictures as Malix pointed it out. That will start to help you to transcript what you see in what you draw, same again learn from it. Then you'll be from actual model with the difficulty to pass from 3D to 2D.
Anyway, as I said in another thread, work is the key to excellence. Draw, draw, draw, draw, have a nopepad always within reach. Also whenever it's a tracing or a complete creation, try to visualise the drawing in your mind.

:iceslolan Hey bud your off to a good start . We all started out just like that, myself included. I have a tutorial on here for doing cartoon cars it might help you out a little bit ...if nothing else its fun . Keep at it bud !

Yeah, I really like BMWs. The rear of the 3rd one was supossed to be the rear of an E46.:(

Gnasha: Yeah, but I don't really want to trace. I want to just keep drawing and hopefully just get better that way. I've had some art teachers tell me that it may take more time, but in the long run, it'll make me a better drawer.

Kartoonz: I've seen you tutorials. Those cars you draw are just wicked awesome. I've tried a few using you tutorial, but I just can't do that yet. I'll keep practicing though.
