Audi Quatro WIP

Hi, This is my first model as a AF member. I wanted to present this to you for review because I am still a bit of a newbie when it comes to modeling and I feel any criticism will help be become better. So here are some pics and tell me what you think. The model is Tamiya Audi Quattro Road Version. As you can see the body still needs some work.

Doesn't look bad, but you might want to paint your interior next time in Flat colour.

Also, it seems that this kit has an engine, am I right?
Can't really see it, you might want to look for some real pictures of this awesome car, and paint your car according these references, that's about the best advice I could give you.

Otherwise the body looks OK to me, maybe you could have masked the window frames a bit better (or mask at all ;-) )

But still, it looks like a very nice model in the progress,

Search some reference pics, and paint accordingly, and don't hesitate to ask anyhing here.

I was trying to give the interior a black leather look. How would I be able to do that if I wanted to in the future.

basically there are two ways to do this...

One being the "icky" way; first spray paint flat paint on a surface and then rub over it with some nose oil (no joke) on it

this trick has been given me by the Syndicate, I think , just do a search on his ferrari 360 Spider.

I tried it, and , strangely it does work, and gives fabulous results.

Another way is to use some nivea creme, but very little, to rub over flat paint, haven't tried that , but sounds less "jucky" and should also give good results...

Although , there should be a tutorial made of this.

Alright I know this is somewhere in the FAQ but I can't find it for some reason. What is the best way to clean clear plastic ie. windows on your models. The winshield has a fingerprint on it and I can't seem to get it off. Thanks

if its gle on your widnow, your screwed. lol. But you may be able to sand it away, and apply some rubbing compund on it. :rolleyes:

Wow! I built one of those a LOOOOOOONG time ago.
Not many street Audi's made it into kit form.
The engine is an engine insert, not much depth but a little wiring hides that fact.
I use semi-gloss clear on my interiors for the leather finish.
Almost any 'plastic safe' polish can be used on clear parts.

Well I took a little hiatus on the model. I tried what everyone said and it all left a residue. So I started thinking about it and put some rubbing alchohol on some cotton balls and placed them on the residue and let them sit about 10 minutes and then as I took them off I made sure to rub the plastic. This definently worked. I will post a new pic of the audi with no decals later. Thanks for the help and I hope this technique helps someone.

How's it coming, Harlock? I'm starting on the same car and just painted the underside black (lazy) I screwed up the paint though and will re-primer and re-spray. Mine's going to be red. Looks good so far! :icon16:
