ABS light

The ABS light on my 1999 Mazda B3000 stayed on this morning. I drove about 100 yds and turned if off and restarted. The light went off briefly (a few seconds) and then came back on. I drove about 40 miles with the light on. I stopped for coffee (about 5 minutes) and when I restarted the light went off and stayed off.

My question is, should I have this checked right away? When I have time? or forget about it until it happens again.

Also, if anyone could explain why this might happen, I would appreciate the information.

I have the same problem on my 1990 Mazda B2200. Sometimes when I start it up the ABS light will come on and stay on for maybe 30 seconds then go away. Other times it will stay on a little bit longer. And on very few occasions it stays on while I drive for like 10 minutes. I have checked all my fluid levels which caused it to come on once before and everything is okay. Also my brakes don't seem to be out of whack, everything is working fine so I'm almost thinking I have a bad connection/ground somewhere that controls that sensor. Just my thoughts.... I'd just leave it alone until something happens.

I had the same problem before, it was some air in the line right at the RABS sensor. Bled the system and no more light!

Replace the senor, it is located on the rear axle.
