Accidental Stunting

So... I was going to my friends house today, not fast just cruising. I was approaching this intersection (heading west) with double left turn lanes, and I get into the left left turn lane. While I'm doing this a crazy cage driver is turning left from the other street (south turning east). Any way instead of turning into the east bound lanes he turns into the same left turn lane that I am in! (At this point I was thinking, "this could hurt"). I hit the brakes and he swerved. My rear popped up and he missed me by inches (very, very few). I then proceeded to clench my heart and just sit there in awe of my luck and discust at his stupidity.
Anybody else got stories? I've accutally had a few others if you want to hear them. Oh, and  BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!:bigthumb:

North American drivers in general are not considerate of motorcyclists, and do not give them the space they should. Think about how drivers respond to pedestrians, they avoid them and drive slowly around them, they always have right of way, because if you hit one it will probably always be your fault. When you see someone walking down the street you arc wide around them, just to be considerate. Motorcyclists are nothing more than pedestrians moving quickly, they have little more protection than one, and are moving faster. Yet since they are on a vehicle, drivers seem to differentiate between them and pedestrians. Motorcyclists will incur more damage than a regular pedestrian due to their speed, why wont drivers be as considerate as they are with pedestrians?

No one looks around, pays attention, or generally does what they should be doing while driving. They talk on their phones, with their passengers, eat, and read books, some do these thing at the same time. Why? So they can say, "Honestly Officer I never saw him." As the fire dept scrapes what's left of you off the road, and their cage.
