Ok I swaped a d16z6 engine into my buddies car and he had a 1.5l manual. The d16 came out of my 93 civic which was an automatic but we took his manual tranny and put it on the engine, i was wondering if we could still use the ecu from the d16 even though it was for an automatic, or would we need a new one?

That's a hard one! As far as I know you really wouldn't need to buy a new one, but you would need to tune the ECU to recalculate the Air fuel mixtures for the increased displacement. Sometimes, depending on the car, the ECU doesn't reconfigure by itself. This causes major lag in the entire engine. Throttle response is decreased etc. Make sure the ECU accepts the engine.
