easy question

I havent even looked at this yet....

My antenna was pretty much rusted and would not collapse when I go to the car wash and such and it just bent and broke at the base. I ordered another one but do I have to run the whole cable to the radio? Or can I just splice it?

Or can I seperate the top black part that screws into the car (that holds the metal part of the antenna) and reattach it to the line that is already ran to the radio? Sorry...stupid question but I figure someone knows and can tell me b4 I look at it...

i duno but i dont have an attenna no more cause i pulled it out on accident, Knowing that a cable didnt come out with it that maybe there would be a way to connect it witout having to run a new cable

i know u can splice the line but u wont get as good quality... u should jus replace the line its fairly easy... i cant help u on the other part.... sorry... hope i was in some way helpful

it should seperate at the base of the ant.

unplug old anntena plug. attach strong fishing line or string of some sort (make sure its really long). Take off old anntena and pull out wire until you see end with string or line attached. Untie string/line and tie to new anntena wire. Pull string to bring new anntena wire to where its supposed to go.

TRUST ME....

You don't wanna have to try and fish the cable down through the A-pillar. Holy shit....what a pain in the ass. It seriously took me about 4hrs to get mine down the hole properly.

Its damn near impossible, becaust the sunroof drain is also in the A-pillar, and the hole where the wire goes under the dash is all up behind the fresh air duct and a/c plumbing. Absolutely impossible to get to, unless you have hands the size of a small child.

Im not sure if you can splice those cables effectively. But if you do it like gta said, it should not be more than a 15 minute job.

if u do what GTA said, which i highly recommend if u run new wire, try going to an Angler's shop...or if theres one around a Bass Pro Shop, and get heavy duty off shore fishing line..it's just as expensive as regular line, but it's for deep sea fishing so it's got like a 50 lb. test...

i just wraped mine with tape and pulled it through, took like 15 min for the whole install

That wire is just a normal coax wire (cable tv line), so you can splice it, but you really should run the new wire down to the radio. Yes, it can be a pain, I had that tube for that the antenna slides down into get stuck when I pulled my old one out, and I have a sun roof, so now I have 2 of those tubes, a wire, and the sunroof drain all in that one space.

It actually still works pretty good...considering the antenna is snapped off... I still get Howard in the morning on the way to work so I am happy...I rarely listen to the radio anyway...always a CD...But I need to replace it.. I may try to splice it first and if that does not help...I'll run the whole thing.
