ST-10 W.G. 4 speed manual linkage

I just purchased a 1971 Nova w/ 400 small block and ST-10 Borg Warner 4 speed manual transmission. It has a Hurst shifter, but the linkage is reversed - prev owner said there wasn't enough room in the tranny tunnel. Has any one had experience with this tranny setup? Should I get a new shifter and linkage? What are my options?

Thanks,

You could cut a section of the trans tunnel out, install the linkages correctly, and either modify the original piece you cut out, so it'll fit, or make another one from sheetmetal. I'm not sure if any of the Nova catalogs sell trans tunnel replacements, but I've seen a couple of them that sell a partial trans tunnel. Good Luck :)
