Big Brakes

anyone know of any companies that make a big brake kit for the crx, or know of any that will work on it?

also if thats not possible, can i use like accord brakes or something like that to get better stopping power?

i know civic91 has Billet 4 Pot callipers with Big discs (they r also seen on aston Martins!!!!!)

I switched over to integra front hubs [including calipers] with the b16 swap, rotors are 1'' thicker and brakes are noticably better. I've heard the 4dr civic ex's had 11'' rotors and that the whole hub assembly swaps over easliy :bigthumb:

FYI: EX Civic brakes are 10.3 , not 11 inches.

Which by the way is what I am trying to do to my car. Except with Integra steering kunckles instead of Civic EX ones.



By the way does anyone have any production fiqures for the 90-91 Civic EX that does have the 10.2 inch front brakes????

How "rare" are they???

Civic EX and Integra front brakes are both 10.2. The other Civics had 9.5. I think the STD might have had even smaller ones.

i have the entire ex front brake conversion on my si....

i paid $50 for everything...and it is probably the best upgrade ive done to my car yet...stopping power is drastically better. plus, its super easy to do, b/c everything is OEM honda.

As you know Civic EX’s are sort-of hard to find.

Does ANYONE here know for sure IF Integra steering knuckles can be used “successfully” on a 4th generation Civic DX Hatch?

(Successfully means that the car can be aligned, not just the parts bolting up.)



Has anyone here converted his or her car and had it aligned????

More importantly has anyone that had their car aligned gotten a PRINT-OUT of the final Alignment specs?

From talking to people so far I find that the Integra parts add a few degrees POSTIVE camber... and when the car is lowered the negative camber added by lowering the car is canceled out by the positive camber.. Which gives car close to neutral camber. (Sounds good as my car is at about a 2 inch drop)

Three things I'm concerned about:

1: Caster..... Others have said it affects CASTER (Tilt on the steering knuckle front to rear...Makes wheels self-centering -feel "stable" at speed) Was (Caster/ everything) "perfect" after the alignment???? Others have said it messes up CASTER... makes the car unstable..feels "loose". Have anyone noticed this? Got any info /specs on how caster is affected?


2: Roll Center Heights: Overall height of steering knuckle (If knuckle is taller or shorter that Civic part is would throw off steering geometry I.E Roll centers) In other words the upper control arm would not be in the same plane as the lower one, hence roll center height would change. Have anyone noticed anything "funny" about the way the car drives???

2a: Have anyone noticed the UPPER control arm "bottoming" due to the overall height of the steering knuckle being taller than the Civic one? As the car is lowered the arm comes closer to the frame.... If steering knuckle height were taller the arm would be closer yet to the frame and would bottom more easily. (another source says kunckle is shorter than Civic one..LOL)

What I'd really like to see is the specs of the alignment... (No one I've run across that has done this swap has gotten a printout of the alignment specs !!!) LOL!


FYI: For anyone that has done this swap most all alignment shops offer FREE alignment checks... (Had one done last week on my other car as a basis for the BEFORE specs.... And to see how far it may have been off, and to see what parts I need to order. Of course I'll put the parts on...Just don't tell them that during the FREE alignment check!!!)

It would be great if one of you guys that has done this swap would swing by an alignment place for a FREE 'check" (make sure to get a printout!). It's a good idea to get the alignment checked from time to time as those "wide" tires we like to run don't like too much negative or positive camber...(Which causes tires to wear rapidly....as you know those tires aren't "cheap")


If someone could run by and get an FREE, FREE, FREE alignment check that would help others on this board with HARD DATA that gives actual values of what the BEFORE and AFTER alignment specs are.

It would be nice to know Exactly how much camber /caster, etc is changed and what was done to get car aligned.

Unless I’ve missed it if someone would do so they would be the FIRST to provide this board with alignment specs, and to prove that the Integra parts can be used ‘successfully”.

Evidently Brian later on found out they are 10.2 http://www.fastbrakes.com/products/product.php?partnum=FBH03 and not 10.3 as the first article indicated.



Regardless EX’s did not have 11 inch brakes on them as mentioned by Sarcoa several posts up.


10.3 vs. 10.2 not much of a difference... I stand corrected 10.2.
