Yup. Normally, I wouldnt do a post like this, but I figured I'd let you know. You guys, even those with ricey taste are awesome for the most part, and Its been good fun. I have my own forums to tend to, and other boards I vist. As J SPEC SILEIGHTY and SR20DETPower have said, and left before, I will too. Im not feeling the forums anymore, they've changed. Im not exactly an OG on AF, but the place has changed. I'll prob. end up on the Model Car forum, or lurk from time to time.

good, cause im getting my 240 soon since im startin to make 2000 a month.. so by like end of winter, ill have a 240 with a suspension and jdm front...

I've always seen this place as a public forum - not belonging to the "regulars" nor discriminating against any kind of poster (read "this is as much a ricer's forum as it is a drifter's forum"). Well, im not going, i just got here. Just a few hours ago i lost my newbie title, and within those 50posts, i learned alot from you guys and alot from everyone at this forum. I hope to pass on what I learned to all those 11 year old newbies out there just like you have. Although all my 240sx dreams have been bashed into tiny little peices by a mac truck with a walbaums trailer, im gonna stick around. Even though im buying a 300ZX turbo, I happen to love these forums, so much can be learned here, even if it wont do me any good now im sure it will in the future. Good luck at your other forums, or whatever else you plan on doing.

And Brian cant...lay down the law because hes a mod. I think AF is a great place to chill etc. but I feel its time to move on, from AF, and from most forums in general. Everyone thinks their holier than thou, or their "really hyper mega JDM Dorikings". I dont know what the next fad is, but I know right now its drifting. It will die down, and only the REAL OGs, like Bryan Norris, Alex Pfiffer and such who have been doing this shit since I was a baby, will be around, and the few of us who are crazy enough to still do it. Do you honestly picture yourself driving a 240 with a KA-T or SR, when your 30, or 40. Hell, even when your late 20s. I dont know what Im saying, but I feel as if Im having an automotive rennisance. Am I EVER going to drift. I dont mean, like, turning the TCS off in my dads car and oversteering. Dont get me wrong, I love 240s, drifting, etc. but I dont know where my heart is. It pains me, that, after knowing about these cars for years, even when i was a child, and growing up with Best Motoring, Option, Car Graphic, and knowing and introducing some of my friends to this, and I find myself turning my back on it.

Often at times, I am snarly, rude, mouthy etc. to newbs, only because I hate to see my dear car, and sport corrupted by magazine and internet kiddies, who are building the car for superficial reasons, such as to be cool or trendy. I find myself answering peoples tech questions, yet I dont even own a 240 and have only BREIFLY been behind the wheel of one. 1/3rd of the FAQ(or less, im estimating), in its original form, was done by moi(with brian and Kevin pciking up the rest, along with other contributions from members). Dont you guys find it sad, that an un-licensed teenager, who illegally drives his parents cars(with permission of course) is one of the main sources of info on this forum? Of course, dayna, mynismo, Brian, SR20 power and others do their more than fair share, but it seems as if I average 1 PM a day from someone whos lost, and doesnt wanna ask on the forums.

I know there is a desperate need on newbs part to read the FAQ, but sometimes this goes to far. Which leads back to the holier than thou thing.

Why the fuck is everything not made in Japan rice. I want a KA-T, I wanna build it for $1000 or less, and Ill get 200+whp and kick some SR ass. Im called a "poser" or "not a real drifter/JDM". Then someone wants the geriatric RB20 and its cool cuz its "JDM". WTF? Ralph showed me 2 shiftknobs on ebay. Both the same shape.

One is a generic knob, but it has LEDs that light up at night, so you can see the numbers. For someone like Ralph, who is a beginer driver, its great. Yet it instantly gets slagged as rice.

Shiftknob #2 is an S15 knob. Its just the same thing with a Silvia lighting bolt dealie on it. But, its $150 vs. $50 and everyone bows down to it because its from an S15 and is JDM. Fuck that. Thats utter bullshit.

To all newbs, I know i tell you to get a Civic, but I have a different message for you now. Get out while you can. You cannot make it in the 240SX community. Its impossible.

Get out. Throw away your prejudice, buy a 5.0, or a Z28, or an IROC, even an ex-cop car, with a posi-track diff. You can drift any of the above(a Toyota Chaser or Nissan Cefiro is as big as a Caprice or Crown Vic and has equal power). Learn to appreicate domestics, theyre great cars to hone your skills on, whether for drifting or drag, or auto-x or road racing.

If you MUST buy Japanese, get a Miata, old RX7, Subaru, Toyota Cressida, Supra etc. Even an EF Civic or DA Integra when done right can earn the respect of even the most die-hard drift fan DONT follow the crowd, get what you want.

If you are insistent on a 240, I advise you to go with a KA-T. No one does them, and the power you can get for such little money is incredible. I know us 240 freaks are often penniless. So why turn down 200whp for 1grand?

man I love 240's and I must have one. Not cause its cool, but because I know all about them and every detail that its what i want, Its pretty much the best car ever built to my needs in my price range period. And yes I would be someone to drive a 240sx when im 35... Im a car enthusiast like that. I would love to keep some around be like antiques and musclecars now when im older LMFAO....

Anyway- just my spin on the whole JDM issue- NO car can ever be JDM unless it was made to Japanese specifications or bought new in Japan- trendy faggots piss me off when they want "JDM bits" just to look cool to all thier equally stupid mates- without knowing the true JDM specs. I pretty much grew up on JDM- all the cars in New Zealand were either done to British or JDM specifications- the real JDM cars are damned nice- especially the SR20DET powered Silvias, the FD RX7's and Skyline GTR's hell even the JDM Integra Type R is a fabulos machine- but it's being corrupted- and it's sad- yet there is nothing you can do about it- it's the purchasers money & the purchasers car:smile:
