87 daytona...

my friend has an 87 daytona w/ a 2.5l L4, and he is gonna do an engine swap w/ a 92 iroc r/t and, i was wonderin what kind of cold air intake would work w/ either the 2.5 or the r/t 2.2l turbo III?

Well, I would advise against the Turbo III. They can get very expensive very fast and can be very unreliable. They tend to like to snap timing belts. The best engine swap would be the Turbo II.

As for the CAI, the Turbo III has one stock, so does the Turbo II. I don't know of an aftermarket CAI as of yet since I am just starting to mod my Turbo IV. I will look around and let you know when I find a good one.

very true 2.5 turbo made the daybue in late 88 in the minivans then daytonas and then es shadows

so its prob a non turbo

and a 16 valve turbo 3 in a 87 god no 87 and 88 had ugly ground effects that what i think but it up to the person

2.5L didnt debute till '88? very interesting, according to Napa, my 2.5L TBI uses an '87 timing belt. This true??

almost everything on the 2.2 and the 2.5 are exactly the same, the main difference is rod lengths andthe pistons, so yeah, the 87 timing belt would work, however they changed the timing gears in 90 I believe

well, there ya go. :) so i guess its true. Although for some reason, only an '87 timing belt fits on my car, i grabbed an 89, and the notches were bigger and formed differently, very interesting... When did the 2.5L TBI debut?

Timing gears changed in 89. The TURBO 2.5 debuted in 88, TBI since 84 I think.

so its possible to still have a TBI engine in the car with an '87 timing belt? cool, im gonna check the engine jes incase...

From 84-88 all timing belts are the same, they are called square tooth timing belts. From 89-up they are called round tooth.
