Im along way away from affording any form of a turbocharger for my 94 Prelude vtec, but what my question is is whats the diference between say a stage one and a stage four turbocharger? What do the stages represent?
Thx for the Help

In the simplest terms I can think of, a stage one turbo will spool a lot faster than a stage four. Lower stage turbos tend to be smaller while higher stage turbos tend to be bigger.

There is no such thing as stages, they are simply something invented by a company in order to market progressive turbocharger kits. A stage one kit can be anything, as there is no such thing as a stage one turbo. Basically the stage 1 will be the lowest boost, lowest power kit. the higher stages will be higher power. But technically there is no such thing as a stage.
The difference between stages will vary between companies, but generaly a stage one will be a non intercooled low boost setup. Stage two will incorpoate some sort of intercooler, and a slightly higher boost. Stages higher than this will start to include strenghtened internals, and driveline parts, in order to run higher boost settings.
While some companies use different turbos for each stage some use the same one and change the peripherals with each progressive stage. Like I said, it can vary as there is no set "stage".

True, it is just a marketing ploy.
