Camero Killin

Ok I just got off work and was driving home. I was just kinda out of it, you know working a 9 hour day is no fun, and all of a sudden this camero comes up revvin his engine like crazy at me. i`m like wtf!

He rolls down the window and is like nice car, bet you get great gas mileage. He laughs and runs off.

I catch up to him at about 70 mph, I dop it in to third and jump a little bit, we get beside each other and he then floors it. I immediately jump up too. We ran beside each other all through third I double clutched and shifted to fourth, and I start inching by him, at that point we were going about 105-110, I put my flashers on and he floors it past me. As I was laughing.

We catch up at the next stoplight, he was like nice car and everything i was sayin thanks. He revs it a little bit and says you wanna run real quick, I`m like sure. I rev to about 3 grand the light turns green I drop the clutch, got a perfect start I was immediately a car length ahead but he starts catchin up. I shift to second double clutch once got vtec and was ahead of him by half a car length he is really goin for it. i`m in third still ahead and start to leave him a little. he brakes and then i brake too. He waves to me and I realize i`m about 15 miles past my house.

No I think it was just the rs, it was only a 6. I don`t know much about cameros so correct me if i`m wrong.

it was a late model V-6 Automatic camaro, it was slow as sh*t. I don`t get whats so unbeliveable about that.

Still, for your car to beat a V6 with an automatic you would still have to have some extensive mods. There is no way that your car stock could keep up with him. So list your mods.

Also, the fact that your even saying that you double clutched completely discredits every word you said. I would like for you to explain to us what you think double clutching is.

The camaro was an automatic, and the only mods I have done to my car is injen cold air intake, dc headers, skunk2 cat back, and crane cams wires.

as far as the double clutching goes ... im with these guys on the BS unless your syncros are shot which i doubt since your ride is a 97 and you probably dont have THAT many miles on it.

Also, what's so hard to believe about a 127HP (stock), 2,500LB car beating a 160HP (stock), 3200LB car. Don't forget, the L36 V6 (200HP)was only available after 1995, and only as an option that year.

Even if the car he raced wasn't an L32 V6 (160HP), the L36 cars were only rated at low 16's, though they were capable of running 15's. The Civic EX is also rated as low 16's stock, but c'mon, how much of an enthusiast is a guy that buys a V6 Camaro?

No. I've heard a term used to describe what I think you're talking about, but can't remember it at the time. But tapping the clutch like that doesn't really help I don't think.

You need new friends unfortunatelly......pressing in the clutch is usefull only if you want to raise your revs without downshifting.....


it will come in handy only on a track couse when you exit a turn and you want to exit it with high revs and not downshift or if someone races you and you are caught flatfooted and want to raise your revs fast.....

if you are already set for drag racing it will only slow you down......remember any time you press that clutch you keep engine power from the wheels


and think about it....when you do that it just feels like you are jumping ahead just because the moment you tapped the clutch you are not accelerating as fast as you were and when you release it back again you resume that acceleration that you had in the first time.....tell your friend to stop watching F&F and take some physics classes

That's beside the point. VTEC or not, a civic EX has VTEC but you can't feel it for shit. About the only thing you can actually feel even a little difference in is a Prelude.

Isnt double clutching for down shifting purposes? To not lock up the axles when down shifting quickly and dumping the cluch?

V-6 Camaro's 85-89 had 130 hp. 90+ had approx 160 hp. 180 and ??? [180-200 probably] Lbs torque respectively.

yeah doubble clutching is the way to do, he's lucky that 100 shot of nos didnt blow the welds of the intake manifold!:eek:

You're fuckin kidding right? VTEC in my B16B is like a small shot of nitrous man, pressing me against the seat a bit. It's no space shuttle launch but you can definitely feel it.

As for this guy beating a Camaro, I totally believe it. I took one in my hatch back when I had the dx engine with only i/h/e. As far as double clutching goes, I think he was hitting the clutch twice in between shifts to sort of rev-match... who knows, but doing it in a Civic is pointless anyways.

L32 Camaros are SLOWER than V6 Mustangs.

I had a 1995 v6 mustang, and since it was an auto, when i raced it in my integra I launched at like 1k just like normal driving but floored it, once I hit 4k, I was gone, pulled on that mustang like oit was nothing, I dont know if a V6 camaro auto is faster or not but I definitely believe this story. my friend had a 1996 EX with I/E and the only way my mustang could pass it was when he had an extra passenger and it was up hill, and still then it took about 1 mile for me to get around him.

nahh man V6 camaros arent anything special. i should know my family has had two of them. i walked on one of them in my old bone stock 1990 integra GS auto
