High octane fuel locations

Hey all, just reading through one of the threads, and found someone talking about high octane fuel.

I thought I would start a thread of locations that high octane or race fuel is available off the pump.

I know of one place at present to get the ball rolling.

The BP just before Kumeu, which is NW of Auckland on SH16 has it on the pump, they will NOT allow you to pump it straight into the car, but you can pump it into a container, and the put it into your car, on the premises.
Or unless your car is on a trailer. It is some stupid bylaw or something.

I am not sure exactly what the octane rating is, but it has Race Fuel on the pump, and every now and then treat my toy to a tank, and the performance increase is noticable.



Anyone else know of any places around the country where this is available also ????

Hey umm.... this 'Race Fuel' it wouldn't be Av Gas would it? This is illegal to put into road cars and is often refered to as Race Fuel. The octane rating is about 100 or so. But the problem is that Av Gas is leaded fuel and the lead will block up the injectors on most Jap cars. You see the injectors were designed for unleaded only.

I shall stop in there and check it out next time I go that way home, and find out what it is exactly.

Falic , long time no see , what ya been up to? I havent seen you since the first SDU drags about 18 months ago , any way , Challenge Pukekohe has Race gas as well , Race gas is identical to Av gas but it has passed its 90 day use by date for air craft , it is 100 octane leaded fuel , you can tell because of the grey exhaust tip and the nice smell. I used to run it quite a bit in the GTS4 but have not put it in the GTR as of yet , you need to remove the O2 sensor because the leaded fuel destroys them .
