Supra question

There is some squeeking noise coming from the back of my supra and it's driving me nuts. Is it the suspension or what could it be???

probably the hatch
the little rubber blocks need to be replaced or you can take the innertube from a bike and put a piece over them

could also be the bushings on your control arms

where are the control arms ?

they are the arms that go to the wheel hub...
one above and one below...
shock goes through the top one

There was actually 2 noises - 1 was the shock absorber squeeking which I'm getting replaced, 2 is the hatch rattling, I'm going to try your suggestion of the bike tube.

I don't suppose you'd have any idea why my supra seems to follow grooves in the road & sometimes the wheel will turn when I go over a bump etc... it's rather annoying. Do I just need a wheel alignment or is it something bigger? The car also isn't idling where it should... sometimes it will idle at 900rpm and sometimes 400rpm(which causes it to choke & I have to turn the air on to make it go up).. I think the oxygen sensor may be bad.. ? I don't think it could be anything major as the car has only done 55000km.

Thanks for your help btw...

your idle sounds like either bad plugs or a dirty idle air controller
is it a TT?

for the steering problem i say drain and flush your power steering fluid and fill it with new fluid...and also get a 4 wheel alignment...

check out mkiv.com for the alignment specs

nah I wish it was TT but it's a NA.

Thanks m8

try to stretch it so that the block fits inside

sweet it worked.. ah peace and quiet at last.

gonna get a wheel alignment done tomorrow, recently I changed the rims from 17" to 18" and for some reason the steering problem has gotten worse, sometimes it's like the car is trying to change lanes by itself...

thats an alignment problem for sure...

also...with going from 17" -> 18" you do lose some handling capabilities assuming they are heavier because of the weight issue and the fact that the contact patch will be smaller with an 18" wheel since the sides arent able to crush as much

hey dude do you know if the air compressor is supposed to turn itself off & on when you have the air con on? is that normal or what... I'm thinking maybe it's just the climate control keeping the temperature constant... hope it's not another problem...

the compressor is one of the main parts of the a/c
when you turn it off the compressor clutch disengages and it turns on

i don't really get what you mean... what's happening is the little fans you hear come on when you turn on the a/c are turning themselves off/on without me turning off the a/c... i figured the fans were the compressor turning off/on...

RScott

see if your dash control for the a/c is set to auto
if it is thats what is turning them on...otherwise i dont know

It's me turning on the A/C... but what I'm saying is the A/C will turn off by itself (you can hear the fans turn off) but the A/C button will still be on... then it will come back on after a while etc etc

Does your supra do this too?
