Problem with Clearcoat

I am painting my mustang with duplicolor in black, and I'm using clear coat from dupli color as well. I had 2 layers of light clear coat on, and I sprayed a third before I went to work. When I came home, the kit was all dull looking, and it was glossy before I put the third coat on..... did I screw it up?

Did you screw up? i would say no but it may have to do with the way it may have been sprayed if you sprayed to far away that may play into the duller finish you now have. and do to dupli color clear itself the clear top coat isn't meant to be a high gloss spray it's just a standard clear coat so to use it to a higher scale shine you will need many coats i spray upwards of 7 coats to get a higher shine then i buff it out alittle. normally 2-3 coats will just add a clear coat with almost no shine. i would say it looked glosst because it had just been sprayed and as it set up it dulled down since this paint isn't meant to be a gloss coat finish. what you might want to do is spray a few more coats and then use a good polish to get a real nice deep shine and duplicolor clear top coat buffs out real great and give a nice deep gloss. and the duplicolor paint itself will buff out real nice also by it self.

I have used the duplicolor clear.. it'S nice to protect, but not if you want a reall shiny job.. Testor Clear (#1814) make a better job.... I don't know if Duplicolor have a "super shiny" version.. anyway, it's perfect for race car

Duplicolor makes an excellent shine, cartuner may be right and if yo just sand lightly and apply a few wetter coats you will be fins, the other thing that may have gone wrong is humidity. High humidity levels will often cause clear caots to turn a bit milky and dull. This problem often will corredt itself in a few days. Good luck
