I need help....

Ok, i have decided to sort out all of my gtr photos, previously all 680 of them were unsorted (yep, believe it). i have decided to document all the liveries and numbers to go with those liveries in exel (sp?) to make it easier. I have a few questions tho and i will probably have more as time progresses. Thanks in advance.

What chassis # is the hollywood car (raced in brazil i believe, was red and white, i think its 03r but i'm not sure)

also, which car is the one attached? i think it is the same as above but i need to make sure...

thanks again :bigthumb:

There were two Hollywood cars that raced in Brazil - one wore race #01 and the other wore race #09 - which one are you asking about?

The photo you posted is #10R - Nick Mason's GTR. It was used for development testing by McLaren Cars through the 1997 race season, and also was used by the Kokusai Kaihatsu racing team for the '96 24Hrs of LeMans Pre-Qualifying. It wasn't sold to Nick Mason until approximately 1998 or 1999 from what I can tell.

The first photo is the car without a chassis number - the one supposedly built out of spare parts and possibly using the 101SP spare chassis. I don't think the full details on it creation are know at this point. It was also the ZERO GTR at one point, and is currently still racing in the JGTC series under Yellow Corn sponsorship.

The second car you posted is the original look of GTR 19R - the first of the long tail GTRs. It would eventually wear the LARK livery, and then race for the Sokei Team in the JGTC series.

Imagine if you had to figure all this stuff out for yourself like I did?? :p

fine here is one to stary you off....

BTW: the hood had a huge scratch horizontally across teh whole front, you can kinda see it in this pic. the only thing i can think of that may have caused it is a garage door coming down on it. it was too straight to be keyed

Pictures...

Excuse me for trying to help develop your problem solving skills. I know you have the tools available to figure out which car is which, you're just not using them. You want to come here and have every answer handed to you?? Come on man - use your head!!

With the chassis history on the DA poster, the QV500.com website, and the ClassicCars site, along with the race history on a few other sites, you ought to be able to figure out which car is which for yourself. If you get stuck, then ask; but it seems like you just ask first and expect me to continue answering you every single time.

Besides, if you want to play it that way, with all the help I've given you in the past year, you already owed me those photos before you even took them. :p :D ;)

on the same subject of cataloging.. can anyone confirm this chassis number taken at the Zhuhai 4hr (1995 or 96?) for my piece of mind?

was this the F1 GTR '95 chassis 05R, campaigned by BBA between 1995 and '97?? I am running out of guesses, because i always thought Italjet was the primary racing livery for 05R?

thanks in advance for any help...

Actually, the two Marlboro cars that raced at Zuhai were the Gulf cars re-liveried for that race under the direction of Ron Dennis.

For the record, they were GTR's #12R & #15R wearing race #2 & #6, and finishing in 3rd & 4th place respectively.

Incidentally, this was at the Zuhai race in 1996 which was the first race held at Zuhia's International Circuit. The '95 race was actually held on a street circuit - the kind where they close off public roads and turn them into a race track.

I only have 5 real photos of the Marlboro liveried GTRs - not counting the ones from "Driving Ambition" - so if anyone has more, including you mini_magic, I'd invite them to share. The photo that you posted is available at about double that size if you are interested.

goddam it, why do u care so much? anyway, i couldn't edit it, if i did the thread would stay where it was, on like page 3 or something, i had to bump it up, and the only way of doing that is, guess what? making a new reply?

Peloton25

Yeah maarten -
In this case he couldn't Edit. Also, the word is 'spell' :lol2:

My beef with the magic man is when he makes several replies in a row to the same thread when really he could just go back and edit his original post. In this case, he's right - he had to make a new post to force the thread to the top. It's just good forum etiquette not to spam threads like he has been known to do - that's why I sometimes bring it up. I'm fairly certain he gets the bad habit from Supercars.net where you have to do that to post multiple photos, but outside of that particular site the practice isn't really tolerated anywhere else that I surf. Incidentally, Maarten can you edit that post you made please.

= = = = =

Anyway, enough about all of that - the Loctite-liveried GTR is #22R. It only wore that livery at the 1998 24Hrs of LeMans where it was driven by Thomas Bscher, Emanuele Pirro, and Rinaldo Capello. The car failed to finish the great 24Hr race due to an accident on the 228th lap which probably fell sometime in the early morning hours.

Through the rest of the 1998 FIA GT season this car was seen wearing the Team Davidoff/'Day Off' livery. Unfortunately, it didn't have much success there either. It failed to finish the Oschersleben, Hungaroring and Suzuka races. It didn't even qualify or compete at the Dijon race, and probably because it was so far out of the points, it also did not make the trip over to the USA for either the Homestead race or the race at Laguna Seca at the end of the season.
