Hi, On my 1997 Nissan xe 4x4 pickup (not frontier), My front drivers side squeals from time to time. It is not the brakes! I just replaced the calipers and pads, it squealed before the brake job and after too. What the heck can be causing this? It comes on all of a sudden, and is LOUD! Then the next day it is gone for weeks or even months at a time. Could it be the 4x4 or the wheel bearings? It has been doing this since 1998 when I bought it. PLEASE HELP!!

I have the same exact truck, and heard the same noise from the same place, I had the bearings repacked, heard the noise once more, but not for long and never again, cant say thats the fix, but i havent heard it in about 6 months and i usually heard it almost every day.

This noise is probably just the torsion bars binding up, its normal.

As for the squealing in the front left, I would check the wheel bearings. My truck squeeled due to brake pads but you said they were new, so I would repack the bearings and see if it makes a difference.

no not normal, if it is your wheel berrings get them replaced, if you do it youreslf its MUCH cheaper, but even if you do the berrings are going to cost like 100 bux.trying going to a quick lube place and geting your fittings greased.

You probably can get the bearings for half the price that the dealer wants to charge you. Go to any bearing house in your area with the bearings in-hand. They can get the numbers off the bearing race and supply you with the identical size bearing from an American manufacturer a heck of a lot cheaper. Same situation for ball bearings out of the CV joints. If you've got a couple of defective ball bearings, the dealer would sell you the whole unit. Again, take a good ball bearing to the bearing house and just buy the ones you need. Save big bucks!
