Blown SR

guy from another forum lives in NY blew the turbo i think, sucks cuz i don't think hes had it no more than 8 months.

he was doing a 3000rpm launch, 10PSI with the ebrake on..lol his first stick

i thought that you were talkin about this other guy i know. he has a S13 coupe with a S14 SR with a turbo upgrade. the car ran beautifully for a few months, then next thing you know, smoke started coming out of the tailpipe and then it was followed by ticking sounds, that got louder and louder, he changed the oil and the tickin sound is still there. his SR blew for no reason at all. it was running good his a/f was good, and he wasn't over heatin or anything. he actually HAD the fastest SR that i knew.

i just saw the video and wow. that shit really sucks for the guy. it seems that he just got it the motor in too. i wonder what went? i think he either over boosted, or he ran lean. thats the only way his motor would blow like that. there is no way that driving with the e brake up can blow any motor. we put more stress then that by doin burnouts. so that is definitly not the problem there.

yeah i was thinking if anything, his rear end would blow out with e-brake up.

whats a good way to run rich when experiencing some lean-out problems???

i never worked on a lean turbo car cause all the vw's that i worked on with turbos always read 1/2 or more on the lean/rich digital meter.

he probrably still had the stock factory bypass valve. there is no way of knowing if your running lean or not without a gauge. but sometimes you do experience hesitation like you hit a fuel cut or something. which is basically saying your ran out of fuel. and if you keep on reving it for a long tiem like that, your pron to detonate. and that means good bye engine after a short period of time.

what kinda idiot tries to do a burnout/hard launch with the E brake on in a RWD CAR what a dumbass lol... just hold the brakes on the rear wheels where they are trying to spin, thats real smart there.... lol

maybe he thought he was back in his old Honda aaaahah

lauching with the E-Brake i used on AWD/RWD to load up the clutch so there wont be as much of a shock on the driveline usually you feed out the brake with the clutch my geuss is he was a ricer that read it in a magizine and tried to do it or he thought he was back in his honda like you said

the only ways i know to change A/F is with either a pressure riser (from what i hear this is the ghetto fabulous way to do it) or a fuel controller (apex, hks, ect)

after watching the video it just appears that he didn't know it was on at all...

trust me this guy wasn't a ricer and he never owned a honda b4...:thefinger

You can't launch a honda with the e-brake on because it is front wheel drive it will just drag the back wheels.:rolleyes:

From what I am reading this guy if he didn't know it was on that is kind of stupid... cause why would you put the E-brake on if he wasn't tyring something... during a launch. So my guess is he was a "Ricer" trying somthing new and got owned... :owned:

you know wha ti think happend. since he just got his swap done. i think he still had alot of 89 octane gas in the fuel tank from before. and he was boosting it and puttin it under high load, and the engine was detonating like crazy and then finally it gave up. thats not a bad theory right?
