well...its my parents car...and now that i have a license i drive it to.....the car has around 106,000 miles on it...and its been having some fuel problems.....we replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and did some basic mantaince.....but the other day i was driving and the car just shut down about 1 block from my house....i had to push it home (atleast i had a friend). Anyways....my dad was reading problems Taurus's have with the fuel....and he was hoping he didn't have to replace the fuel pump...damn thats hard to get to...we tried for about 2 days fooling around with things, and trying to start it...but no luck..just sat there and cranked.....so this moring my dad was searching the net and came across a very interesting thing.....There is a fuel shut off in the trunk....in this shut off there is a ball between 2 magnets....and when the ball gets shook hard enough it hits the maganet and shuts the fuel flow off......We found out that Taurus's have faulty ones......well we went into the trunk before and hit the reset switch...and bam!!! the car starts wiithout any problems.....runs a little ruff in idle still....but i was out driving it for a few hours before and it was fine....we called up the Ford dealer and ordered a new one of those switches but they had none in stock......tuesday it will come......Well that was my day and boy was it fun~
i just wanted to share incase people out there are having this problem and need a solution.....please check that first...before you mess with the fuel pump..
