Front axles

Howdy;

I am having a problem getting my old axles out of my 91 4ycl 4x4.
I have the old ones unbolted and loose, but I can seem to get them out.
Do I need to unload my tosion bars/suspension???? If I did that and raised the swing arm, I think that would give me the angle I need to get them out.

ANY help would be appreciated.
