heh' bet you all thought this was about doing burnouts
:D
anyways, i just wanna know who smokes and why??
i myself dont smoke, i mean, why would you want to breath in smoke, and damage your lungs, etc.
it is also a good waste of money.:)
it is also a bit harder for me to like someone if they smoke, it puts me off them when i first meet someone and they pull out a ciggie and light up.
anyway, just my thoughts.......

I couldn't agree more. Smoking is a disgusting habit that is bad for you and looks really gross to boot.
Not to mention the fact its not very good if you play sports and have an active lifestyle.
Say what you like about it - I hate it and thats my 0.02.:bandit:

Have you tried patches and stuff? My Dad quit by going to some hypnotist guy.....that could work if you really want to quit.

I wonder if there are truly people out there that hate cigarettes more than I do. I may have drunken myself into a stupor literally hundreds of times, tried many kinds of drugs, but I am proud to say that I have never once in my life smoked a cigarette.. and I hope that in 50 years I can still say the same. That of course says nothing about the hideuous amount of second hand smoke I am subjected to in the bars and clubs that I hang out in. Nothing as nice as leaving a place like that and having your hair and everything you wear wreaking of smoke. And don't even get me started on how I feel when I see a parent pushing their toddler around in a stroller with a cigarette in hand. That is just the worst.
Do the smokers realize that part of the assembly line of cigarette manufacturing is to douse the tobacco in ammonia, so that when you inhale cigarette smoke, it causes your lung tissue to expand (like your reaction when you get a good whiff of ammonia) to aid in nicotene absorption?
I'll punctuate the preceding message by saying that I FUCKING HATE CIGARETTES!!!

My smoking career lasted 3 months. I started shortly after my dad died and my thinking wasnt clear. One of my best friends started hanging around a "bad crowd" and we both got into some things we shouldn't have. It started one nite we were out and I was depressed, so she said "lets go get some cloves" (the cigarette kind :p) so that was my first smoking experience...then I worked my way over to regular cigarettes. Ironic in a way since my father passed away from lung cancer, and here I am starting to light up  At the end of those 3 months we got away from that group of "friends" and I screwed my head on straight and realized I needed to get out of my self-absorbed pity party phase and get moving on with life and living again.
A year later I met Alex and we began dating. He was a smoker and for whatever odd reason I didn't have a problem with it. A little over a year ago he was climbing some steps at work and was out of breath when he got to the 2nd floor. He was only 22, going on 23 at the time and it hit him that if he was getting winded this young, what was it gonna be like 5, 10 or more years down the road. So for my birthday last year his present to me was quitting smoking...he even put a "patch" in my b-day card :) Now he's been smoke free since then and is so glad he did it.
As for the addiction,he can totally relate. He started smoking on n off at 13 and became a regular smoker at 16 and went on til my birthday last year (2 weeks short of his 23rd b-day). It was hard at first but what helped him with the physiological need (the act of putting something to his mouth) was cinnamon flavored toothpicks. He came off the patch after the first "phase"of it cuz he got a box of bad ones that wouldn't stick but by then he had made up his mind he really quit and never went back.

Myself, I don't smoke. I never have. I never will. It neither interests or intrigues me. However, I will go out on the porch to keep one of my close friends company while she enjoys a cigarette (usually functioning as a stress reliever). We've got it down to a system. Before she lights up, we determine the direction of the wind, and then we sit on the appropriate sides of the couch so that I come back without second-hand smoke saturated clothing. :) It works.

Well, for me, i actaulyl kind of enjoy it. I just dont like the bad parts of it. The smell doesn't bother me. I like the smell of Camels (mm....camel) and cloves. If only there was a harmless cigarette out there.
But ill quit as soon as i get a girlfriend that cares enough to make me quit. I lack the self control to do it myself.

I think they use Ginseng cigarettes in TV shows, for smoking characters. At least that's what Ted Danson said in a Becker blooper "Mhlemr...shit, I can't get it right, I think I'm getting high off this genseng cigarette..."
I'm not addicted, I don't want to be addicted. But I will admit to loving to smoke. It's quite relaxing, and since I'll only have like max 10 a year, it's a time where you can just sit down with the smoke and do nothing but think and stare into space. I MUCH prefer cigars though. Way way better IMO.

I don't like smoking. I don't smoke, and technically, I made my wife quit. She quit cold turkey, but then again, I was giving other things to do in the meantime. ;)
I don't care if you smoke, but have some fucking consideration! Yesterday I was doing my laundry in the laundromat at my apartment complex, and when I went to get my nice claen clothes out of the dryers, some dumb fuckmouth was in the room smoking. He's getting the shit smell of smoke all over my clean clothes. :angryfire

I agree, I hate it when people smoke in the stupidest places, like the entrance to a hospital or something where all the sick people have to walk through. Whenever I smoke (which isn't often), it's always with a friend that doesn't care or is having one himself, and on their back deck or something where we're alone and outside. Never bother other people with it.

look at my "sneaky smoking" thread and i explain how it happened..... basically the first smoke i had gave me a little bit of a buzz and extreme relaxation, so i'd have another one cause they were so relaxing. then a couple months later, i get addicted.... i'm not that bad, but i have 5+ smokes a day and after like the first few, no more buzz :(
they just developed so called "healthy" smokes.... they're already being sold. There's some new filter they develeloped and a new way of cleaning the tobacco, they are so much better for you than ordinary cigarettes. but i've never tried one, yet

well, i'm only 15, so i don't smoke. i suppose i'll smoke a cigar now and then (i have before). i suppose i'll smoke or take speed in college (or drink hella redbull/nitro) for tests.... i dunno. i used to be addicted to caffeine (pills and otherwise) for a while i was drinking a 24 pack of coke a day, until i contracted an ulcer. then i drank like, redbull and blueox and took 2 caffeine pills daily. that's about 1g of caffeine. 10g can kill you.
it was nuts. i'm off it now. i'm never tired like i was (crash from OD of caffeine, or fiend as my buds used to call it) and i'm happy now, when i used to be angry.

Over the summer I had my 1st cigarette, at the local night club, on the 13-17 yr old night. Most of the time when I go back, every 3-4 weeks, I have 1 more. I definatly can live without them though. Caffiene is much better anyway :D

If I have enough caffiene I get fucked up on it, especially the caffiene pills my friend has. I had like 2 in the past 3 months. They get me going most of the time. Everyone begs her for them, but she gave up giving them out cuz she had to steal them from her sister. Soda only does it if I drink like 2 liters...which I have no problem doing in like an hour.

God I don't know how many times I tried to quit. I did once for three years. Then got married and wound up taking it up again like a jack a** Now some 20 years later it is so hard to stop and I have tried again and again.
Patches don't work, gum is marginally effective, injections don't work, and going cold turkey I am a real bast*rd to be around. Maybe one day I will kick it.
I figured it out, I would save over $5,000 a year!
