im gettin tried of the dam cops

this is my third time gettin pulled cuz too lowered and dark tint. the first time i did made a illegal turn than he was being a dick and gave like 5 citations for the lowering, tinted windows and exhaust, and the turn that i did. the two other times was just cuz he wanted to. fuckin cops now i might just sell my car or just stop ridin in this car and buy another car. what should i do guys?

how low is your car and how dark is your tint?

fuck the cops i get stupid ass tickets like that all the time. there just fix it tickets... no big deal

tint like 3 times, no front plate , and exhaust

the lowest your car can be is no lower that your rim line/ headlights have to be 22in or more off the ground

i had my car lowered about, well the cops said 21'' but now i got it like 23. my tint is 5% in front and 20% in back. last night i got pulled over cuz my tint and exhaust. i would prolly gotin a ticket for that but i alreday got a ticket for the tint and exhaust. dam i got lucky cuz i just came from a party and i was drinkin. shit i was halla nervous:confused:

i was thinkin about gettin a 99-00 accord coupe but im still thinkin about it

Hey man, I feel your pain, where are you located; US or Can? here in Ontario, it is up to the cop's discrection whether or not the tint is too dark, "it must not obstruct or impair the driver's line of sight".

I think a little consistency is in order: cops don't just cuff people walking down the street because they think they've done something wrong, or they think they WILL do something wrong, and yet... that's what they do to automotive enthusiasts like ourselves.

just get ur tint redone to 35% or even 50%
they just wanna see in the car... kinda a saftey thing
i have 5% all the way around and 50% on my windshield, they never notice the windshield

you should've been taken straight to jail and had your license revoked. driving while intoxicated is a very stupid thing to be doing. There is no excuse..call a cab, have a friend drive you home.

If i was the cop, i would've impounded your vehicle and taken you straight to jail.

Yeah a lot of times cops hassle ya just cuz your a kid or just cuz you drive an import w/ an exhaust. It really sux around here (Tri-Cities, WA) because this weekend we are having the boat races (Hydro's on the Columbia River) and there are mass cops EVERYWHERE. There are the cops, sheriffs, state trooprs that are always patrolling but then they practically doubled the workload for this weekend and u can't go driving down any main street for a 1/2 mile without seeing a cop. After going out friday and saturday night i am glad i didnt have my car (gettin its engine put in) cuz i probably would have been bound to get a ticket just for something like my exhaust being too loud.

I know some cops can be dicks but come on guys, your doing things you know are illegal. What do you expect? They're doing their job. And to the guy driving drunk, you have bigger issues than tint. I've had so many friends and family members killed because they were drinking or someone else they were with was. A distant relative is in Jail right now because he hit and killed a girl that was walking down the street, while drunk.
Now I'm not saying all laws are fair, or just, but hell, use some discretion. I'm pretty damn sure my engine is illegal, but I don't do anything stupid to attract attention to it, like put impossibly dark tint in my car, or lower my car over 2 inches. Those things are obvious, the cop has no choice but to notice it, and if he lets it go, the next cop that sees you will nab you anyway. So my point is, don't blame the cops for your stupidity. Your knowingly doing things that are illegal, and aren't even trying to hide them

I agree with that, I think it is just plain out stupid to drink and drive. I had to many friends in school that got killed cause of that.

But anyway, you were talkin about being pulled over cause of being to low, well i had a state trooper in TN pull me over cause of that, his stupid ass told me that the bottom of my front clop was suppose to be 13in from the ground(the bottom of my front is only 4in from the ground) anyway i had to go to court and found out that the damm cop was stupid as hell, andthe jusdge told me it was suppose to be the steal bumper that was 13 in. from the ground. Anyway it got thrown out but they still pull me over for it all the time and it really pissis me off, but now i keep a tape measure in my car to get out of the tickets now.

Agreed. Thats totally one reason why I don't do things to make my car look different so as to draw a lot of attention to it. When you're doing that you're also drawing the wrong attention. Cops, Vandals, and if you've spend some dough, car theives. A lot of people have to have things like dark tintZ YO! and big chrome mufflers that are loud and have 5" tips, and chrome taillights.. They do shit like that and wonder why they get harrased by the police!?

Cops have never given my car a second look since I put my new exhaust on and all amber corners.. My exhaust looks totally stock, but its all 2.5" piping. Functional, cheap, quiet, and it keeps me out of trouble.

f-ck cops,,,i got pulled over for being to low,,he said i had to raise it up 2 inches ,,,i had it right at 22 inches,,,,,they do it by measuring it from the center of the headlight,,,,well i ended up raising it up cause i have coil-overs,, got the ticket signed off,, then lowered it back down,,

,and i heard you can have the back windows as dark as you want but no tint on the front side windows or the windshield

yea ... thats how it is in california as far as i know.

i got limo in the back and 35% on the sides, that is legal here
dark as you want on back window, rear doors and 35% darkest on drivers door and passenger door

i know friends that have double limo on all windows and no rear veiw mirrors witht he loudest exhausts and like 2 in. off the ground and the cops just look at them and drive by

actually oragamiguru, its not up to the cop, the officer has to be able to see you lisence if its pressed up on the glass, the legal is 5% onthe rears and 25% ithink on the front, the front im not 100% on, but as for wings and stickers, if the officer feels thagt they obstruct your view then he or she can make you removee them, and here when an officer thinks the tint is too dark, they will either cut i huge X in it or make you rip a chunk off each window to make sure you replace it, ive had it happen to me in my buddies car

I'm from around your area and I've never even heard of such a thing. A cop couldn't just do that...

ive seen it happen twice now, so apperently theycan, my old cutlass was taken off the road because of that, among other things, but it seems they do have that right, and if its unsafe then its understandable, if you were putting your life at risk by walking up to a car late at night wouldnt you like to know who is in the back? but ill find out for sure this week what the real law is about it, im on my way to being on the force so im sure i can find out

funny...some people learn, some dont.

maybe i just have bad luck on the road cuz ive seen about twenty cops so far on the road next to me and not pull me over. and this is after all the shit that has happen. just depends on the cop too. i work at the staples center over here in la. and theres alot of cops in here to watch out for fights and shit like that. i asked one of them "how exaclty do u messure the height of the car" they told me "shit i never pulled anybody over because of that, cuz theres other more serious shit i have to worry about". he also said " the cop has to be a ass or the chp!

i got pulled over...again for tint. but i showed the cop my ticket that i already got and they let me go :icon16:

yo haven ... what are you doing about your tint? You have 5 on everything but the windshield right? My friend got pulled and he has 5 on the back 3 windows and 20 on the doors, and the cop told him that the drivers side window cant be tinted ... so hes taking it off and bringing it in.

Or what about the real car those lights belong on, the IS300? Those taillights are DOT approved and are meant to be on the car. I'm not on any IS boards, but I'm sure that somewhere someone has got pulled over for having Altezzas on their IS totally stock. I've had friends in Tdot get pulled over for the shiny tips on their stock 00SiR exhausts.. A friend in Milton got a ticket for a totally stock exhaust on his 92Si. :rolleyes:

There's too many damn kids doing shit like that to their cars and then driving stupid.. Getting in accidents, speeding all the time, etc.. It makes those of us who aren't into that shit look bad, because of association.

your allowed to haveclear lenses as long as they are DOT approved and ytou have the proper coloured bulbs in the proper spots, wasnt there a list of this kind of stuff on here a couple weeks ago?

these dot laws are bs. This guy i knew in high school had a white 89 dx hatch with clear tails, with bright ass red leds in em, and got pulled over like 13 times, he even made a web page about it, but i cant seem to find it anywhere, i think it was on my high schools server.

Why should luxury cars be allowed to have bright ass hid's and clear tails, but when someone puts any of this shit on a honda they get pulled for it and harassed ... its wrong. Same with exahust, why should harley motorcycles be allowed to have an exahust that exceeds 92db just becuase it came like that stock, but when a car enthausiast gets something that loud, its all of a sudden so terrible.

:confused: The come from the facrtory like that man.. The ones on the The IS and RX are obviously DOT aproved for certain reasons, a lot of the cheap ass aftermarket crap, is not. They are not dot approved because they don't have refelctors built in like the stock taillight, thereby making them unsafe. Also, clears are just a pain in the ass to see in the daytime. I fucking hate them. THATS why I think clears and altezzas are aboot two of the dumbest mods you can do. They're overpriced peices of leaking crap, and they make your car more unsafe at the expense of coolness.
JDM tails are also not approved for over here due to lack of built in reflectors.
