does anybody know which head is best for the b20 engine swap. one of my friends said that the best head for the b20 swap is the ls head. my other friend (who has a b20 engine swap) says the b16 is the best head for the b20. im planning on putting a turbo on this engine later on. any input would be appreciated.

Whats wrong with the B20 head?

B16 head adds VTEC... Why you would add an LS head I have no idea - ist like the same thing, lol!

well the b20 head cant fit in a civic hatchback. it wont clear the hood

Which civic? Most cars I have heard of its the intake manifold that does not fit...

the whole point is to add the vtec, get the b16. Its the most free flowing, and it has vtec. With this head the engine should clear the hood.

B16 head is best. Or B18C5 head, but it's basically the same thing with a more expensive price tag.

if you can find one I think thew B16b head is BEST. but for price id go with B16a.

on crvtec.com they listed them in order as B16B-B18C5-B16A-B18C1.

but I think the reason to go to the LS is the cams are a little better, somewhere I read that switching to the LS cams gave a guy 7 WHP on a dyno, but cant be 100% about that.

and yes it is the intake manifold that doesnt fit. if you are keeping the B28 or getting the LS(B18B) head then get a integra LS manifold, if going CRVTEC(I would go this way) then you need to get an intake manifold from a VTEC engine like the GSR or SI.

BTW did you get the B20Z or B20B. if you got the Z. Id just get a LS manifold and boltons and youll have a pretty quick car.

i dont have the b20 engine yet, i just have the stock motor. how much do you think all of this would cost?

well, the B20b is 750 and ends up 980 shipped to WA frpom hmotorsonline.com

and then the you probably need to get the integra harness, ECU, manifold and that should be it. and also a TPS sensor cuz they dont come with it but I guess almost all hondas use the same one so you probably got one. and you need a b series tranny. hydro or cable depends on what car your putting it in.

and the B20b is 8.8:1 and the B20z is 9.6:1 they both have 133 ft/lbs torque but the Z has 20 more HP @ 146.

I dont know if you can choose which one you get but I just got the B cuz its what he told me thats what I was getting and I was changing compression anyway.

I got all the parts to do a plain B20 swap but now I am gonna go towards CRVTEC and I dont need the harness/ECU/or manifold so if you end up doing this swap I got a complete LS manifold with all sensors, rail, injectors and all. and a 94-95 OBD-1 ECU and a complete uncut engine harness. pm me if you need them, cuz i dont anymore.
