I was wondering if anyone knows of a website that has info. on how various generation Corvettes stand up in crashes ?? What has been your personal experience if you or someone you know , had a crash in a Corvette ? If you have had experience...please state the year , coupe or convert. , speed ,impact location, and extent of damage to the car and driver ?

Thanks, Dave

I knew Corvettes could fly...but had no idea they could fly to a second story !

Thanks for the reminder to drive safely.

I think my favorite pic is the one where the owner is looking at his SUV humping the Corvette.

I'm not sure where that info would be and if GM wants it out
depending on th results.

However having followed the Corvette generation for sometime
now I can say they hold up real well.

I've seen various crash/accident posts on other corvette forums
and most people walk away with minor injuries. Then again I'm
talking about crashes that aren't the ridiculous kind with speeds
between 30mph and 70, not over 100mph.

The cars are toast, but the people live on

My father and I bought a '79 Vette that was in an accident (woohoo! been waiting a long time to finally get a Vette) We're not sure exactly what happened, but it hit *something* in the driver side of the bumper, straight on.. Let me tell you what, the nose on these cars are rock solid... The bumper itself wasn't even bent, the air tank was slightly bent (frame machine would NOT straighten it.. even with countless tons of pressure) and the shock of the impact went directly into the frame, crippling it back about 3". left side motor mount broke..... Most of the damage was exterior though.. Driver side fender is useless... most of the figerglass up infront of the hood is trash... The rubber bumper is good, with only a minor dent that should come out with some heat applied to it.. The hood has a small crack but my dad said he can easily fix it.. Very rugged! I don't know how the driver took it.. It was a woman.. but my father got the car from the dealer he worked for, the insurance company was going to total it, but we couldn't let that happen.

Thought I'd also say, the front end is all cleaned up, straightened, and the suspension is in perfect working order (completely stripped down to the frame/basic suspension components)... working on another air tank we picked up, and after that the radiator goes in, and we can get it running again! Car is extremely clean with 95k miles on it.. from the winshield/doors back, the car is in fantastic condition. :)
