R32 Skyline Spotted in CA

-The Stig-
07-26-2003, 01:34 PM
Yesterday driving in my company Van down into Huntington Beach I spotted a R32 Skyline. Couldn't tell if it was a GT-R or GT-S or whatever. But it was definately a Skyline and it still had the Right-hand Drive.

He made a left from the street I was turning onto and gunned it. Now thats a beautiful sound. I'll admit to loving the sound of a fat V8 but that Skyline sounded healthy... and it dissappeared quickly too.

So.... with that said... and it coming from a very wealthy neighborhood. I know the approximate location of a Skyline...

tee hee

I'm going Skyline Hunting when the Nova is done.

Haha...

Dont worry, If I set something up with this fool I'll probably have to have slicks on so I can have any chance at a hole shot.

Which I figure if I can steal the hole shot from a AWD car and just pull away will Mr. Man is shifting his gears and being cool in his Skyline. I can probably stand a chance.

Or... it could just be stock... in that case I've no worries. I have respect for the Skyline but they don't scare me. :uhoh:

Actually the most hi-tech piece of equipment on my motor is the fact that it doesn't have points.

Go electronic ignition! wooo.

They're fully capable of running high 12's stock (with a good run/driver):thefinger.

BPU+ with the stock turbo can get you in the 11's.

Well, this is if I can ever find the duder and if he even wants to run his machine. Also I've got to find him on the street before I can even race him... so I may never race the fool. haha.

But, I figure by the time I do end up finding him... I'll have done some extra upgrades to the motor. Cam swap alone would get me to about 470hp N/A. And if things go my way I'll have upgraded to EFI by then and that'll boost me to the magic 500.

Damn, I was about to hit the submit button and I thought of something. The longer I wait to find this guy the longer he has to mod up his car. Son of a biscuit! The Hunt for Skyline begins!

Chances are is he has the $$$ to import this thing in the first place, he has NO intention of keeping it stock

I am so looking forward to the day I pack up here and move back to the states. Oh the enjoyment of head of me

Every bugger with petrol in thier blood will want to line me up.

Redneck if he even midly mods his car, without changing turbos, injectors, engine mods he could be up to 450-475hp. With 650cc injectors and hks 2530 turbos, a front mount, and 1.2 bar of boost tuned decently he would have 500hp at all 4 wheels.

You scared? you should be :iceslolan

and all redneck has to do is drop in lower compression pistons and strap on a supercharger and could be making near double that.

Not scared at all. Why should I be? Odds of finding this guy again and actually racing him are very slim. No reason to be worried at all when I know I'll win. :iceslolan

Red, there is an R34 around Ventura County. I've seen it twice. Its blue & has been in a BF Goodrich mag ad before. Nice car, but I doubt the guy will race you on the street... if at all.

Stock R32 Skyline's are actually pretty slow (I've heard of high 14 sec. 1/4 mile passes in them). Minor mods can get them into the 12's :eek7: If he has half a brain he will have modded it (Chip, CAI, exh, boost controller). I don't know what your Nova runs, but expect to be playing catchup, cause that car is capable of some sick 60' times.

actually no. stock R32's can do low 13 second passes. i saw a video of a stock R32 when they are testing it do a 14 flat on the 1/4 in the rain!!

Well people lets not forget that I may never see this guy on the road again. I know the general area in which he came from... but it's still a fairly large area to cover.

And ontop of the rareity of seeing him, he may not want to waste his time running me.

I'd love to run the car... if I won I'd be a very happy boy. If I lost... oh well you can't win them all.

You can mod a 240sx for a hell of alot cheaper, and you won't have to worry about reliability. Nissans are grit iron auto's, as for 5 g's doing 12's I have to doubt in my mind that you will. (More power to you) Just trust me when I say that mitsu's are not the best bang for your buck. I guess everyone has a prefrence, but after knowing a few kids who have owned eclipses and what not, (not to mention working on them) I have to say......Not my pick for car company of the year, if you get my drift.

R32 what? GXi, GTE, GTS, GTS-t, GTS4 ? The GTS4 which is a 2 litre single turbo version of the GTR will do 14's in manual config.

The R32 GTR will do very low 13's stock standard though they claim them to 12.9. I did a 12.88 @ 105mph with only pods and exhaust done. 12.5 with the ecu chipped, 12.24 with a front mount added. The 12.24 was done on a wet track with wheel spinning all four through the first gear badly and still had a 114mph trap speed.

Its amazing reading some of this stuff that is posted on the Skyline. I would to say about .5% of the guys in the states that talk about them have actually seen one, let alone work on one.

if i was going for drifting or road racing maybe i would go with the 240sx. but i want a 1\4 car so im gettin a gsx itz the best bang for my buck. i invest 5'gs into the car ill be doing low 12's... 5k into a Stang and you in the low 11's.

Best bang for the buck, its hands down a Fox body.

in the Huntington Beach area, I think I know some of the story.

I made the trip down to a shop called "Under Pressure Research and Development" in 1999, and they had a skyline there that they had brought over. UPRD was in Huntington Beach, but they got busted for "non car related illegal sales" according to unfounded rumour.

The guy I talked to about the car claimed all kinds of mods for it, and they definitely had the money to spend. The shop had all sorts of expensive stuff just laying around.

I assume that when the owners got busted, the car either went up for auction or one of their friends purchased it. Probably the same car, they aren't too common. if it is the same car, it's appearence is pretty much stock, but they were claiming tons of engine mods. I also remember them trying to get it together for the pikes peak run, but for some reason it didn't run in the race. All a long time ago... it's hard to remember, and plus since one of their $#*& employees ripped me off, I try not to.

were they jacking trucks using black honda civic's with gigantic wings, and green street glows. Using harpoon guns to shatter their windshields? I think I heard about that. :iceslolan
