Engine stalled while charging AC

I was re-charging my truck's AC system. I had 2 pounds of the required 3 pounds charged in, when I changed the AC selector from Normal to MAX. When I did this, the engine stalled and won't re-start. There's no fuel coming up to the carb.. I put on a new fuel pump, but same result. Could something have shorted when I changed the AC selector? All the fuses are good. Is there a fusible link somewhere in the wiring that may have burnt or broke. Also, the dome light isn't worked correctly. When the door is closed, I can read 12 volts at the connection (but it doesn't light...bulb is good), when the door is open, I read 0 volts. It's working just the opposite way it should. Thanks for any help!

It sounds to me that there is a fuse, breaker or fusible link some where that you missed.
What year and make do you have?
Dont worry about the dome light power going to ground when on, lot of tham are ground switching and not positive switching, so that is probobly fine.
When you fine the bad fuse it should fix all of your problems.

Just acquired new pieces for the fuse block. All push-in type fuses checked out OK, but will change all the other push-in type controls. It's an '80 GMC 1/2-ton PU, 305, V8, automatic. Thanks.
