why?
i front mount will be good enuff..
but if you insist on doing something likt that which serves no purpose but to waste $ you will require lotz of piping it will be hard fiting and running all the piping..

If you are looking for some serious cooling, look into a water to air IC, much more efficient. Its more for the track though.

Dejon tools sells a "Dual-I/C" kit for the 1gs. With all the extra fabbing up of the piping & longer runs, it's completely(almost) inefficient. You could upgrade to either a Supra sidemount I/C, or run Aquamist like Talon007 said.

No , you are thinking of water injection. He was talking about an AIR/WATER intercooler. Some of the modded WRX's have them. Saves a ton of IC piping and therefore reduces lag. And its 3 - 5 times more efficient than a regular AIR/AIR IC. And no heat soak on hot days :biggrin:

Yeah but then comes into the issue of money. I'm looking into water injection on my GSX. I keep getting too much knock at high RPMS & I can't figure out why. My timing is only at 8 deg at 5500 RPMS.

Thats terrible timing advance, what setup are you running? Is this on pump gas? There might be other problems to address before you add W/I.

I've got mainly bolt-ons. Full 2.5" exhaust, ported 14b, 02/mani(ported), boost at 18psi, 550cc inj, ACT2600, KN, free mods. I don't understand why I'm getting so little timing advance. I've been having troubles with my charging system as long as I've had the car. I ended up selling the GSX 1 week ago. It was a sad sad day. I'm looking at picking up a 92 Maxima for daily driving & finding another T/E/L for strictly fun. Every single thing that I did to this eclipse had a counter-productive effect. It was this, or shove it off of a cliff. lol

Do you have a bigger pump? SAFC? 550s with no fuel control at 18psi....sounds like the start of knock. Give us a full mod list if you don't mind. Also, a log or two would be great.:bigthumb:

I had a re-wired fuel pump, stock. My 02's were around .94, new 02 sensor, new knock sensor, ALL required maintence. It just had some gremlins hidden somewhere that I couldn't figure out. That's why I got rid of it. I can fix most cars/things, but even most specialty shops were scratching their heads.

To the original question... Two ICs wont help much and i'll explain why. The important thing to remember is that the rate at which an object (or fluid) changes temp varies directly as the difference betwee the temp of that object (or fluid) and the temp of its surroundings. In this case the object is the charge air, and the "surroundings" are the aluminum rows etc of the IC. So ts a curve. The greater the difference in temp betwen the air and the IC, the greater the rate of transfer. Let say your charge air temp is 300 degrees. It passes through the efficient FMIC at ambient temp of 80 degrees, and drops to 100 degrees. So there was a 220 degree difference in temps, and it dropped 200 of it. (Just for shits and grins thatsa 91% efiency rating :wink: ) Now as it passes through the crappy sidemount IC there is only a 20 degree difference. Consider that most sidemounts rate around 50% efficiency (reall world data colection, not manufatures or vendors claims) and it will only drop temps 10 degres more. After the FMIC dropped it 200, whats 10 more....
Now also consider that when you add ICs in series, you have to add up the pressure drops (if you put them in parrelell you can average them (for 2 ICs)). Any time you increase pressure drop the turbo has to ake more boost to compensate (since the boost guage reads boost after the pressure drops). So lets say you are set to 15 psi, and there is a 3 psi drop. The turbo now has to make 18 psi. So when you figure out the turbos efficiency, you have to figure it for 18 psi, even though you are only getting the power of 15 psi. :wink: More heat added for nothing, that the IC now has to remove as well....
So as you can see, its not really worth it. :smile:
