Bye-bye Plus 8?

I read in a magazine article (was it in Classic Motorsports ?) that the Plus Eight is on borrowed time after 35 years, to be replaced by a V6 version.

Wow. What's next, upper and lower control arms?

For some reason, I'd rather see an inline six if they could fit one.

Rover's V8 is on borrowed time. The only vehicles still using it (in volume) are Land Rovers (not counting the TVRs and Morgans). With Ford switching Land Rover engines from Rover V8s and fours (and BMW V8s) to Ford/Jaguar/Volvo powerplants, the Rover V8 is on its way out.

As a replacement, I'd like to see something like TVR's six or V8 (or Lotus' V8). That way the Morgan would remain British.

Well, Jaguar's V-8 is a real Jaguar V-8. The current 4.2 V-8 doesn't have the potential timing chain tensioner or nikasil problems of the old 4.0 V-8.
