ok this is pissing me off as soon as i get the car working right it lets up on me. Anyways i had been driving the car for like 5 hours straight which isnt much, when the car was idsling it stalled, when i was at the busiest intersection at a red light, the car would not start! it would just keep turning over but nothiung would fire! so i pushed it off the road and waited for like 1 hour and still nothing, finally i towed the thing home with my dads truck, and am gonna try it again today. It has me thinking its the main relay, but i replaced my old one with this one bout a month ago. so unless they are both faulty, i dunno/

The same thing happened to my car. It would crank and crank but not turn over. I let it sit for 5-10mins and it started right up. I could be way off here but I think my friend said fuel pump may cause this ??

sometimes when it's really hot outside...i'll go somewhere like the gas station for instance....and when i come back out, get in my car, it won't crank up, but when i wait for a few minutes...it cranks right up....do alot of people have this problem? i've replaced the fuel filter because that's what i thought it was, cleaned the injectors, and everything, but nothing happens...i guess it's just a honda thing....

4gen91CvcLS and jackacc: It's your main relay, not your fuel pump/filter

fiercecivic: This may sound dumb, but is there gas in the tank?

iight just got home from work, main relay is perfect cause the feul pump comes on and evrything.

Marc-OS: yeh theres half a tank of gas, plus i dumped sum down the carb to see if it was gas but it still wouldnt fire. so i know its spark!

i ripped my dizzy cap off and the rotor and evrythin is reall good caiuse i just replaced it, but this thing (top)http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/788022coil.JPG

behind the rotor is all cracked and burnt inside. i have a hunch that its my coil, can anyone back me up on this.. btw the car is still not running even after i let it sit, so i figure that this is my problem. thnx guys

Same kind of thing was happening to my brothers car... I ended up replacing the entire distributor, and I'll be damned if that didn't fix it.

And yes, I had already checked the main relay, fuel pump and even the ignition switch... replaced the igniter, coil, and rotor all TWICE before replacing the whole distributor.

Still can't figure out what the deal was with that old distributor though.

thats what happend on my d15b2, i had no idea why that thing crapped out, so i eneded up swapping for the b16.

Mine would turn over also but wouldn't start, it was the igniter. I got the whole distributer because if you just replace the igniter there could be something causing it to be going out inside the distributer and it would be pointless to replace just the igniter.

okay, try this, look in ur fuse box, there should be an ignition fuse or starter fuse or something like that, i used to play tricks onmy friends by taking out that fuse and the car would crank, but not start, they got all scared and shit :D

i called canadian tire cause they are usually the cheapest for this kinda stuff and they want 103 bux canadian for an coil/ignitor. thats a bit steep so im gonna go rip one off another civic tommorow at the j/y and try it. The scan pic thats on the thread above is a bit bad cause u cant see all the cracks in the plastic but all that black cover is split all the way around the outside of it and im pretty sure this is my problem. Just to make sure is this the coil or ignitor that's cracked:confused:

Get a whole new dizzy if you can find one for a decent price at the j/y. Same shit happened to me 3 times, its much easier I think to replace the whole distributor then to replace just the ignitor and have it most likely happen to you all over again.

kinda the same thing happened to me too b4....i replaced the whole dizzy and it was still the same...turned out to be the ignition switch....check urs...tells you how in a Haynes Manual....just to make sure b4 you go rip one at the j/y

yeh, finally fixed it, it was that box that i scanned, the ignitor. i got the ignitor, coil, cap and rotor for 20 bux canadian:tongue:, i also got a set of crx si seats i think, i had to drill holes cause the bars were like 4 inches wider than the originals, but their frickin comfortable!!!
