Good fuel for lancer

Hi all,

This may be out off topic. In OZ (BP fuel outlets) they sell fuel with octane level 91 and 98. There is usually 10 cents different.

On the car manual, it says the recommended minimum RON is 85.

Does the octane level make any difference? Does it worth the 10 cents extra?...

Thanks in advance,

There is absolutely no point in buying fuel with an octane rating that exceeds the engines needs. Octane is a measure of that fuels resistance to detonation, if your engine needs high octane fuel to avoid detonation then there is reason to buy it. But if your car only needs low octane, there is no reason to buy high octane.
