240sx finally painted, not happy.

I finally got my car out of the body shop after waiting 10 months. The car suffers from paint chips, raised edged, rough spots, and areas that still show the old paint. I've tried to work with the shop, but they do not want to fix their mistakes.

I paid $3400 for it and I do not think the money I paid and the time it spent in the shop is reflective upon the work. What is your opinion on this?

The complete story is located on my site: click here (http://240sx.marvyndt.com:88/news/news_abbd.html)

The images of the problems I have with the work is here (http://240sx.marvyndt.com:88/news/news_abbd_2.html)

I'm currently trying to chargeback my credit card, but I need a written second opinion from another merchant. If anybody can help me with this, please email me at [email protected]

hey man, i love the color u chose, i dunno if its a stock color, but it works well.. whats the code?

fuck that paint job is disasterous though..
i would so sue their ass or something

10 months for that? 10 months, i would expect a perfect paint job and perfect blowjob from his wife.

that is rediculous.... im assuming 3200 US?

man, u gotta start calling up shops and telling them u will pay em like 100 bux, and if anything u will take it there to get it painted if they dont wanna do ur car again.

if u slip a bill here and there, u will get the letters u need from more than 1 place, that outta do it.

RalphCare - Thanks. The color is a Honda S2K color, Silverstone Metallic NH-630M.

Me and my fiancee have been looking around for body shops who are willing to help. We're trying to get family friends in the business to contribute for free before we start slipping some $$$.

Sanchi - You may just need to refresh your browser or try again a couple minutes later. I'm hosting it on my own personal server and have posted the link on several forums. The extra traffic is probably exceeding my ISP's upload cap.

@ 7:50pm its up and I'm on dialup.

file a complaint to Better Business Bueru...then tell the guy that you are going to file a small claims lawsuit. if he does not redo the paint job you can have the court do it.

Already file a complaint with the local BBB department. I would prefer that the original body shop NOT redo the paint job. One, I believe they only do good work on their own cars. Two, I don't think I can wait another 10 months for my car.

I'd prefer that the original bodyshop pay the costs for a more competent body shop to redo my car.

 Thats horrible man. What a bunch of lazy asses, leaving all that old paint showing. I'd expect in paying $3 grand on a paintjob that it better be damn-near perfect if not completely flawless. I hope you get the job re-done, and good-luck. Its a beautiful car by the way.

man, that's terrible. i can't stand hosers that try to rip-off honest people by doing a half-assed job on things that need to be done perfectly. that person should at LEAST have to pay compensation to have the spots repaired, if not anything else.

by the way, can we see some pics of the entire car?

What state do you live in and what paperwork did you recieve. I would be interested in helping you out. I am a bodyshop manage in NY state and used to live in and work in a shop in CA. Send me an email at [email protected] and I will try to guide you.

Good luck,
Jon Powell

to me it doesnt seem that bad ... but for $3400 its terrible and it should be damn near show quality for that price. Hope you get it all straightened out.

Melt - I would say the car looks okay from 20' away. Once you get closer, you start wondering where the $3400 went

Jon Powell - Thanks. I sent you an email message.

S13_Iketani - To fix the problems around the windows would require everything from the a-pillars back to be repainted. So Auto Body by Duie would pretty much have to pay another body shop to paint the whole car. In my opinion, they deserve to lose money on this.

As a side note, another body shop looked at the car and they pointed out to me that the paint does not match properly. From the a-pillar to the mid section of the moonroof, the silver has a slight green/yellow tint to it. The spoiler also has the same color variation. The rest of the body does not have this color tint.

As far as the spoiler being a different color, I would expect that the bumpers and the spoiler would be different from the rest of the car. The pastic changes the color of the paint. On the roof, I cannot explain it unless the metallic flake is not laying the same shich is possible. The grey color that I chose for my car has a green tint in the shop but outside it is pure grey. The color is HEAVY metallic and was hard to get the metallic to melt in evenly.
