Hey Rui, I used to play in school and at club level, I had to stop playing because of a knee injury.
Played since I was 4 until I was 26.....now I can't run too much without a knee brace.....:frown:

Sport seems to become evil with age. I used to play a-grade hockey and cant now due to knee and other associated leg problems.

I used to play aswell at club level but as a kid I used to play Gaelic Football and Hurling at the same time. So i was training 4 to 5 times a week and two different matches at the weekend. But like Ray injuries have set me back my problem is my ankles, they are quite weak, too many smacks with a Hurley probably....but Im only 25 and had to stop a few years ago. Quite pissed about it really, my fitness is diabolical now.

At our club, and school, the left wing was the guy who was 'over there' in case he's needed
Unless you're left footed or have a phenomenal switch, it's not a position for a right footed person.
Me personally, centre midfield, centre back or goalkeeper

I almost always played center mid. some times I would get moved up to center foward but not often.
My problem is that I have weak ankels. Actually I have a whole slew of injurrys but what usually makes me go down on the ground is an ankel. I had to go to the orthapedic last year after a well me being a dumbass on a bike injurry. And he said that I'm all fucked up. (I was on my old bmx bike and was in the back of one of the guys trucks and i decided to jump the bike off of the side bad idea.)
And I played baceball for along time too and hurt my shoulder from throwing.

Rui Costa from AC Milan
:bigthumb:
well as for the positions i play, center defender, midfield, and forward. not trying to sound cocky, but i can play all 3 of those positions pretty damn well, but i have to say most of my teamates want me playing defense.

Rui, that's why I prefer midfield, gives you an oppurtunity either way....

I played in the rec-league for many years, and then played one year on Junior Varsity at my High School. I miss playing soccer. :(
In rec-league I was always on defense b/c I was the only person who could clear a ball from the 18 to the 50 in a single kick. I gots me some LEGS, baby! :p As a result I always was in either stopper, sweeper, or one of the two full-backs. Then I made JV in High School and suddenly I was left forward. It helps that I've got as much power, and almost the same aim with my left leg as my right. I scored a few goals b/c the girls were expecting a "righty". :D

This is my 30th year of playing and the body is starting to say enough.
Had several opps on kness and starting to pay the price of not resting when told etc.
Played 1st team football for both my clubs i have played for, and also played for my school's first team and age rep teams.
Captain of our team untill this year when i missed the first half of the season due to injury.
2 years ago was player/coach of our first team that finally won the second division and are now playing back in Division one after trying for so many years.
Well probably return to just coaching next year due to needing another opp on my knee which well probably mean the end of 30 years playing.
