i was wandering if anyone had ever gotten a turbo kit from TDC and if so how they like it.... i have a rx7 so i know about turbos and i want somethin more for the 1/4 mile but still reliable. the turbo kit should be more reliable than any supercharger running at nearly the same PSI but im skeptical about the amount of lag coming from a v8 with a turbo. If anyone has any advice on this please tell me... also i dont know how strong a 4.6l mustang motor is, so do you think it could hold 8psi daily and every once ina while run at 12 with out having problems...

Sorry to burst your bubble but TDC are dead, theyve hit the can along with Incon. Theyve cheated plenty of people from their Turbos. Some have waited MONTHS for their turbos and not even a word from TDC only "Its in the mail."
Try these www.turbolocity.net or www.proturbokits.com They make some good turbo kits and ive been hearing good things about them in terms of gains and reliability.

Turbos, as you may know make an ungodly amount of power at low psis. 8psis can net you almost 500/500 on stock engine. THAT is by no means safe. You will have to forge the engine to sustain the power and boost. Ive heard of plenty of people losing their engines on turbos because theyre bottom end/internals couldnt hold up. Get a safe tune, a very safe tune and build your motor so you can crank the boost up higher(8-16psi) and so that it wont give up on you. No doubt the 4.6 can take the power, but the question is for How long can it take the power? And the answer to that is, Not very long if you go out and take a chance. Just play it safe and build your engine.

but im skeptical about the amount of lag coming from a v8 with a turbo. If you know turbos? How is that so?

A V8 will have a lot more volume to spool up a turbo, you got me on that statment.

You will have less lag with a V8, given the same size turbo on a smaller displacement engine.

Thanks DkShadow,

I have spent a lot of time on her in the last few months, most of it hand polishing the rims:)

thanx for the help, when i was talkin about how much lag i was goin to get from the turbo ive heard from other ppl who turbocharged larger displacemed motors like v8's that it almost creates a reverse effect of the air. the exhaust gasses goin into the inlet of the turbo enter too fast too quickly and can some how inturn slow the turbo down... ive built 5 different 13b motors with different turbo set ups and 1 4G63 which are completely different from v8's so i was just asking what i heard. could be a lie some one told me just to be an ass hole, who knows. BTW, i love your skyline!!

Thats just it, it depends on the turbo, and what has been done to the engine to prepare for the turbo. If its not match correctly, yes lag is going to be present.

Thanks:)

o yeah.... also i didnt know what you would recomend for a turbo size. i was thinkin a ETE42 turbo which is similar to a 60 trim 16g. its a good sized turbo that i think would be able to spool quickly for instant power and easily be capable of making good power all the way up to, and past redline. i dont want anything wild like a t-76 but somethin a lil more timid and that can run happily at low psi

I am not familar with a ETE42, but the 60 trim is a good trim for that application.

I am more familar with the turbos that apply to the GTRs, and Supras. HKS 2510,2530, 2540, 2835, GT-SS, and GT-RS.

I was looking underneath the hood of the six shooter and I keep getting this recurring thought:

With 2 less cylinders I have about 4-5 inches of space before I hit Radiator. and I get this hallucination of stuffing something wild and crazy right there... like 2 massive turbos... and then I realize all of the above mentioned.

It would still be sweet though. Even if it ran for only 4 hours before dying forever.

the turbo lag should'nt be significant at all, really, especially if your using a smaller turbo, less power more reliablity you know, the lag really should'nt be that great as long as you dont go overboard
