I'm trying to find as much info on swaping a 96 h22a1 into 94 civic coupe. Firts off I need to get my V-tec working (maybe I'm dumb, but i don't even know were to locait my V-Tec solenoid), I have had no luck finding any helpful info on this. Second, I don't Know every thing it needs to pass smog (sensor wise). Also I have purchased a HCP mount kit, and was woundering were the best place would be to re-weld the passinger side mount, since the uni-body is so thin. If any body could give me any info on any of this. It would be great.

A SIMPLE WAY TO FIND OUT IF YOUR VTEC IS WORKING IS TAKE THE CAR ON A DRIVE MAKE SURE AT 30MPH YOU ARE IN THIRD GEAR AND FLOOR IT LISTEN TO THE SOUND OF THE INTAKE/EXHAUST THE CAR WILL BUILD UP SPEED KINDA SLOW BUT AT 4K/5K YOU WILL KET A BOOST IN POWER IF THAT HAPPENS YOUR VTEC WORKS.DO IT ABOUT 2-3 TIMES.

Alright man...First off, to see if VTEC is working go to a stop light and start as you normally would if you were NOT racing and listen for the exhaust/intake to whine a little bit once you get to about 5000 rpms, if it does then you're VTEC is absolutely fine. if not then take it to a Honda Specialist and see if he can check out the ECU and see if that's the problem. about smog, with an H22A mounting into a D15 engine compartment you shouldn't have any problems with smog. Just make sure that the Exhaust ports connect ok with the possibly different port setup of the H22. Otherwise you shouldn't have any difficulty besides just getting new motor mounts. About the passenger seat bolt...not sure exactly but you might just try a weld shop or you could even possibly get it done at a muffler shop because its some easy welding. Good Luck with the swap and remind me NOT to race you if i ever see you.

Check out the Sept 2003 Issue of Hot Compacts and Imports (HCI). The Cover Car is a 725 HP Street Legal Turbo H22 in a 5th gen civic hatch. It'd built by Rage Performance Onwer Jason Whitfield and his crew, with the help of Kurt Gordon at KG Racing. T=It mioght interest you since you said you want all the info you can on a H22 swap into a civic before yuo start. It has pages of informance dedicated to his 725 hp EG Hatch H22 build-up. Pages 26-60, or 34 pages worth. It's worth a look at least. In nothing else, it's a good read, but it might interest you since you are interested in a H22 for your 5th gen 94 coupe. I have inof on the actually swap that would help you, but It's not with me right now, it's at home. If I remember I'll post it once I find it if you want. Good Luck.
