Help! I'm a single mom who is trying to figure out what is going on with my car. My brother in law just purchased the Royale for me and we are having problems figuring out what is wrong with it. The car runs, however, it has a problem with jerking and stalling. I can be driving down the road and the car will begin to lose power and jerk...sometimes I can floor it and acts like it is not getting gas and then it takes off. Other times it just stalls but it immediately restarts. It has also been quitting as it sits at idle or just driving down the road either in the middle of a turn or on level ground or a hill. Not only is this dangerous (It quit once in front of a semi) but it's very frustrating. We have changed the computer, the fuel pump (twice), the fuel filter, the motherboard and the coils. Does anyone have any ideas here? We have exhausted everything we can think of except the sensors. We even changed the catalytic converter (it was bad anyway) and it still hasn't helped. Thank you!

Looks like you have more than one problem with your vehicle. How's the tuneup and wires? Clean the throtlebody of the vehicle with throtle cleaner. Disconnect the mass air flow sensor and drive it around. If the mass air flow sensor is your problem the car will run better. Replace the mass air flow sensor. If it doesn't help, get professional help.

We were able to fix the car. The Air flow sensor was bad. It runs like a top now! Thank you all for you help.
P.S. This car is in good shape. Other than the wrecked doors on the passenger side, it is clean, uses no oil and had just a litte over 45000 miles on it. Since my brother in law bought it I have added at least 2000 to that with going back and forth to work. This site is great and I look forward to coming back and reading all the things everyone has to say.
