SRS Light Won't Go Off

I drive a 1995 Honda Civic. For the past year the SRS light has been on. I recently failed the vehicle safety inspection in my city because of this. I took it to a dealer who after charging me $80 to run a test now tells me it will cost $1,100 to fix the air bag. I don't care about fixing the airbag. I just want to have the light stop being lit so I can pass the vehicle safety test. Does anyone know how to do this?

Legally? NO

The easiest way (by my guess) is to take out the lightbulb illuminating the SRS logo. (BTW, I'm having the same problem right now....)
To do this you'll have to remove the bezel (2 screws in the top portion), pull it out, and unscrew all the screws holding in the gauge cluster. pull the cluster out and unplug all connections. The bulbs can be taken out by unscrewing them. Take out the bulb, replace all the plugs you took out, and screw everything back in.

That should do the trick......
