The main thing is to do the 1g boost. Spend a grand on the following...

People always say the first thing is I/H/E, or (Intake, Header, Exhaust). This lets your car breath better. Cars come from the factory with bronchitis. The stock air boxes are very restrictive, especially with your Integra. So buy a good Intake. In my opinion a short ram intake is the best, such as a K&N Typhoon, so you don't have to clean the filter as often. When intalling this, don't forget to remove the resonator box inside the fender. It's a big white french horn looking thing where the air about to go into the engine gets circulated around to silence it. The header is where the exhaust gas leaves the engine on it's way to the exhaust pipe and muffler. This is also sometimes called the exhaust manifold. DC Sports makes a good one for imports. I would prefer the ceramic one due to price. Then get a high flow catalic convertor, (I'm not sure about any brand names for these). Then get a local shop to build you a cat-back exhaust with an eBay muffler to save money, or go out and spend $550 on a Greddy Evo cat-back. Next, is suspension. I'm not sure what all you want to do, but if you have an Integra you gotta lower it. This is all a matter of preferece and could be a whole new topic, so I'll just shut up and click "Submit Reply".

thanks for going into details for me, but theres one thing, whats the catalic convertor and would my shop take out the resonator box while im putting in the intake? and what are filters? i see people selling round big shaped filters and i wanted to know what that was for. also would it be possible for me to add a turbo kit to my integra? how much are those? and what are cams? i see people are also putting in new pistons and a lot of stuff in there car for the first mod they ever do, should i do so? thanx i got these questions that no one ever answered, so i gotta let em all go at u, lol, thanx:iceslolan

Yeah, no problem. Well the catalic convertor is a cylindrical shaped thing about 2 feet back from the front wheels that the exhaust gas goes through to make the gas more environmentally friendly. Unless you live in a state that does smog emissions tests, you don't need to worry about it. If you do live in one of these states, it's going to be a lot more complicated because about the only thing you would be allowed to get would be a CARB Exempt Air intake, and a CARB Exempt header.

The shop will, (should), know what you are talking about if when you take your car there you specifically request that they take out the "resonator under the fender".

The filters you hear about are a special filter developed by K&N that attaches to the end of an air intake that filters dust and other contaminents out of the air that is about to be combusted by the engine. These kind of filters do not need to be replaced unlike normal filters. K&N sells a "Filter Charger Kit" that contains cleaning solution and aerosol oil so that the filter can be reused when it gets dirty. Some companies like APC copied this filter idea, but if you want top quality, stick with K&N. Any Short Ram intake that you buy will come with one of these, so you don't have to worry about buying one. Also, as far as the intakes are concerned, you should try installing it yourself. This is a good project to be your first. There is very little that you could do to harm your car intalling this, plus it's good experience. If you decide to have at it yourself, PM me and I'll make up some good intructions for you. The ones provided with the intake are garbage. They aren't car specific and generally suck.

Turboing an Integra is way out my league but what I can say is that it'll probably end up being around 3-4,000 dollars and if you choose that route, don't buy an air intake, header, or cat-back just yet because it would be useless after the turbo install.

Cams is a quick way of saying camshafts. I don't know the mechanics behind what all they do and how they work. Sorry but all your questions from here on out I am not familiar with and wouldn't want to give you mis-information about them. Good luck with everything.

thats what a camshaft is.

No, u dont change your pistons as your first mod.

how old are you?

U should also get some civic type r cams to.

civic type r cams? but yo what do cams do? what are they in charge of doin? and what the hell is an underdrive pully

ma bad the site told me what the cams do, but what is the underdrive pully and what does it do:bloated:

pulleys are the things that spin the various components on your engine, the belts go around them, an underdrive pulley is lighter and smaller, making more of your engine's power reach the wheels, and not be used to spin the component, like the crankshaft or water pump.

so would i be buying a performance one? or just adding one to the car(DOES the car come with one)?

Yeah, your car comes with them. Open up the hood and look for a big belt about 3/4in wide and there are pulleys that giude it. AEM makes aftermarket pulleys, as does Unorthodox Racing. I'm not sure which are better but Unorthodox are more expensive, so they are probably better. lol. You also should think about getting a lightweight crank pulley. Unorthodox sells a complete kit I believe. I hear that a lightweight flywheel is also a good buy. I don't know a lot about them, but I can picture it making a big difference. Anyone know a lot about flywheels? I wouldn't mind getting one myself. Like what would it cost to get one intalled and what are the good brands?

P.S. Does anyone know if any companies make an air conditioner pulley? That is a beast of a pulley.

Nope. That's why they make wrenches. So you can just yank that bish out.

lol. Yeah, but I'm a wimp when it comes to hot weather.

Oh yeah, speaking of tearing stuff out...Do you know a way to take out the abs pump without messing the brakes up? I unplugged the power to it, but its gotta weigh a ton.

As far as advice, loesch8102's advice was pretty sound. Intake, Header, Exhaust is a great start, as he said, unless you are going the turbo route. This is because they will all be replace and useless if you get a turbo. The Intake and header are replaced with the turbo manifold and related turbo intake piping. The 2 1/4 exhaust you would have put on as part of the intake, header, exhaust route would need to be taken off for bigger piping, as the turbo would require such. As for intakes, I perfer Cold Air Intakes over Short Ram Intakes. For every 11.1 degrees you lower the intake temp, you get 1% more horsepower. The Cold Air Intake hangs down into the area near the wheel well and sucks in cold air from outside the engie compartment versus the hotter underhood air of the short ram. So, fpr example, if the underhood temp is 110 degrees, and the ambient (outside) temp is 60, degrees, thats a difference of 50 degrees, which is a 4.5% increase in Horsepower. This is because cold air is more dense, hence more air molecules per cubic inch of air. This means more air molecules beucase of the greater air density when combustion occurs. An Intercooler with Turbochargers functions under the same permise, it cools the air so that it is more dense, creating more power. As far as turbo's, if you get a CARB exempt kit like one from Greddy, you should be fine emissions wise regarless of the state you live in. A Greddy Kit costs $3249 and has everything you need expect the intercooler and Blow-Off Valve (BOV). Greddy's Type-S BOV is $227, the Type-R BOV is about $250. The intercooler will run about $600-800. That should put you at or over 200 hp, whether you have a GSR (b18c1) or an LS (b18b1) engine. Greddy makes kits for both. The Turbo they use is a mitsubishi TD05H-18G, which is rated to produce over 400 hp. This means you can upgrade later by adding bigger injectors, fuel pump, etc, building the internals properly to handle more boost, and then increasing the boost. Speaking of boost, an engine with stock internals can usually handle 7-8psi. Some people say the LS engine can handle 12 psi on stock internals, but I still would feel safer at 8 psi. The GSR can handle 8 psi safely on stock internals, don't try 12 psi on stock internals with the GSR engine. If you up the boost past the setting the kit uses, (8psi) remember to increase injector size and replace the fuel pump as needed. I know this is a very breif run down, I hope it answered some questions. If you have more, let me know.
