im about to get a CAI but i dont exactly witch to get yet. is the K&N intake better than the AEM or AEM better than the K&N?

Does K&N even make a true cold air intake? Isn't they Typhoon intake actually a short ram? If the K&N only a short ram then i'd go w/ the AEM cold air but if the K&N does make a cold air im not sure what one would be better.

i heard that the aem uses the k&n filter but im not sure if k&n makes the cai pipe

Yeah in a thread i was reading earlier this morning which was between generic intakes and AEM and it said the only difference is the filter itself. AEM uses the K&N filter which is why it flows better than the other cheaper ones. But like i said earlier...does K&N even make the piping for a CAI?

Yes K&N Makes cold air intakes but they dont call them that. there called typhoon intakes

K&N Website (http://www.knfilters.com/kits.htm)
they also have FIPK (Fuel injection performance kits)

Air Charger Performace Kits

and something called 57i Induction Kits

i reccomend checking out the site as u can click those images and it takes u to a separate site on them

Just buy an AEM copy intake on ebay and buy a K&N filter for it. Same exact thing as the AEM for a fraction of the price.

i'm preitty sure those are enginered for minimum air resistance, a big pipe won't be the same. it could give you next to no performance increase, i think aem and dc intakes spiral the air like those tornado thingies you see advertized all the time on late night tv.

What? Why do you think that? Those tornado things are a farce.. So is people thinking they need air to be spiraling to get more HP. :bloated:
You don't need a big pipe either.. The bigger pipe isn't going to just give you more power. Get the one that was manufactured for your car by some cheap-o company and just slap a K&N on there. Cheap and effective.

actually now i've asked someone yes the tornado is bullshit but aem and dc according to the performance parts store they do spiral the air and are specially shaped for the maximum airflow, they work well in conjunction w/ other performance parts.

That is the one that I've got on my civic and custom made CAI but I ordered an APEXi filter for my new engine and I'll prolly order the AEM -CAI and sell the filter and attach the APEXi one on :bigthumb:

spiraling the air is stupid. you dont need that. the air spirals in the intake runners rigth before it goes into the cylinder. thats where it matters because thats where teh fuel is injected.

There isn't going to be a noticeable difference between K&N and AEM
