Engine Swap From Hell

I am strongly considering purchasing a late 80's model Chevrolet S-10 from my buddy. The body is straight as an arrow. No rust. 4 cylinder. Not running. $500. I have been wanting a custom vehicle for a long time. Euros are expensive, more than I got for what I would want. Trucks are all fabrication, for the most part, and I got freinds for that. I want to do something completely outrageous. I was considering putting an independant rear suspension out of a Corvette in the back, since that is Chevy's only Ind. Rear Sus. car. But that was going to get expensive. My next thought was "how can I put this truck on the ground without C-notching the frame and body dropping the bed" BLING A light bulb goes off in my head "I'll put a front wheel drive motor and tranny in this S-10. It is a completely original idea, I never seen it done B4, and is sure to win some shows if done properly." My question is this " am I completely nuts?" I was thinking of sticking with a GM motor like a 3800 series out of a new Buick or Pontiac, they supercharged pretty often, and V6, but then thought a Mitsubishi engine out of an 92 Eclipse would be cool. After I get it in I could tune it out. Any way, drop a line with any thoughts you have.

FWD? why would anybody voluntarily MAKE an FWD truck........:bloated:
Maybe leave the drivetrain thats in there and slap a 4G63 on it. If Buschur can do it , so can you.... Although he used a Powerglide tranny and a Ford 9" rear . It would be interesting to see a 7 - 8 second S-10 out there.....go for it.....:bigthumb:
