Redrunner

no they are both SOHC EX is vtec DX is non Vtec

-The Stig-

Wouldnt his Vtec of engaged for him in first and second gear as well? Its turned on by RPM... thus it would of been engaged alot earlier... And if he's a quick enough shifter it would never come out of Vtec...

But... what do I know... I drive a Nova. :icon16:

yes it kicked first and sec gear but I had the horn so I was a car in front off the line plus as you know 1st gear goes so fast when you are racing the vtec pulled him to the side of me then 2nd he was beside me when it kicked in then 3rd when it kicked in he was gone

sorry, but SOHC VTEC doesn't pull anything ahead 3/4 of a car.

yes it'd pull in all gears, but its not gonna matter that much really. its such a subtle difference in power, ur not gonna see him pull like that from the VTEC alone.

OR maybe, JUST maybe, you saw a better driver at work.

With a 1997 LX...same motor as yours...I used to beat similarly-equipped EX's.

do the 2000 EXs have same motor as 1999 and down EXs what is different about the 2000 and 1999 EX

Man if I had a tach and some stickers on my car I would have smoked him

next week going to add DOHC Vtec sticker and Turbo Sticked and a supercharger Sticker and a NOS sticker

Then let see if he beats me

Torbo 3 cyl!

Does that push it up into the 17's?

And beware of that green Geo. That wing of his probably added about 65hp! Unfortunately, it was all added to the rear wheels since thats where all the downforce is going.

It's not quite his fault that he "only" drives a Civic DX, as far as that goes.

I do agree, that his comments/questions sometimes are quite novice-like.

The bottom line is that he was supposed to beat you. His car is a 150hp SOHC V-TEC compared to a 135hp SOHC NON v-tec

From 98-02 all the Accords (except for DX models) has the same engine (150hp and 152ft lbs of torque) Except for that SULEV engine which comes with 148hp because of that CA emissions or something

I agree. But there aren't many Honda's available with DOHC V-TEC that a person can fit in comfortably.

1996-Current Honda Civic EX coupe and sedan: 1.6L SOHC VTEC I4
1999-Current Honda Civic Si coupe: 1.6L DOHC VTEC I4
1996-Current Honda Civic HX: 1.6L SOHC VTEC-E I4
1998-Current Honda Accord LX/EX I4 coupe and sedan: 2.3L SOHC VTEC I4
1998-Current Honda Accord LX/EX V6 coupe and sedan: 3.0L SOHC VTEC V6
1997-Current Honda Prelude Base/Type-SH: 2.2L DOHC VTEC I4
1993-Current Acura Integra GS-R coupe and sedan: 1.8L DOHC VTEC I4
1999-Current Acura TL: 3.2L SOHC VTEC V6
2001-Current Acura CL: 3.2L SOHC VTEC V6
1991-Current Acura NSX: 3.2L DOHC VTEC V6

Thats also true, and the b16a2 has discontinued in production. but there are other swap possibilities....

blacknight
07-28-2003, 01:59 PM
You're right. I think the only other option is for a nice engine swap. I was gonna swap in a Prelude engine but I'm gonna wait till my warranty expires

vtec28412
07-28-2003, 03:24 PM
I haven`t seen that done in an accord before. That would be nice. Keep me updated on that.

Here's one I found on E-bay that I was really interested in

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33615&item=2425477201

00accord44
07-31-2003, 10:05 AM
2 things:

1) Why does it say 30-50K miles on the engine? Are they selling more than one? Don't they know what Lude it came out of?

2) You'd think they could clean it up a little for the pics. Presentation is everything. IMO

Ricochet
07-31-2003, 10:09 AM
Be very careful buying engines off ebay. There are scams going on where people post PICTURES of engines, and in the explanation they say "for $xxxx you will be buying exactly what is shown below". Person pays the money and gets an envelope with a picture in the mail and can't do a thing about it.

00accord44
07-31-2003, 10:26 AM
That'd be pretty messed up if you paid all that money and then got not only a picture, but THOSE shitty pictures:lol:

blacknight
07-31-2003, 10:59 AM
I agree....Buyer beware. That's why I would pay with a Cred Card

They probably have more than one engine and saying the their engines has between 30K-50K miles on them.

I might be wrong, but it does seem logical

vtec28412
07-31-2003, 01:25 PM
And most of the engines on ebay don`t come with any kind of warrenty except a start up warrenty.

00accord44
07-31-2003, 01:36 PM
True. This one has a whopping 60 day warranty.

Day 61: Engine dissolves:frown:

vtec28412

blacknight
07-31-2003, 02:48 PM
You guys are really discouraging:grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes:

I might just keep my engine and drop in a SC or something:biggrin:

00accord44
07-31-2003, 03:46 PM
Well, good luck finding SC for F23a! Ive been looking for 2 years with no luck. Jackson Racing has been blowing smoke about SC on F23 for two years now and has produced NOTHING! The only option for SC in our cars is to (ironicly) swap for H22a THEN SC. With JRSC on H22a, youd make about 261hp I believe and like 230ish tq (its on the website www.jacksonracing.com i think) So after the swap, SC, and ihe, you have a 2003 Accord V6 with 5 speeds instead of 6:frown:

Its not easy being green.

My SC dreams have crashed and burned. I dont have the kinda $$$ to have one custom built for me. At least not yet. Try a buildup on your engine, then drop in a T3 or T4. I have some homework to do about turbos, but (from what I know) either of those would be good depending on how much boost you plan on running and how much you reinforce your internals.

The path of the F23 is a difficult one my brother.

blacknight
07-31-2003, 04:19 PM
You're right. A T03/03 Turbo would work nicely on a F23. I was concidering that also. Not much, just a decent amount of boost. Maybe 7 or 8 psi. But I'm still not sure on the options.

Or there's always the option of Nitrous. Nitrous express has a dry kit on sale (so they say) for under 400

00accord44
07-31-2003, 04:38 PM
I personally don't wanna go the Nitrous route. Its too much of a quick fix to me. Like popping speed pills. Sorta.

Plus I have abad mental association with Nitrous and ricers/burger boys. Thats all they talk about is how they're gonna get a NAAWWWSS kit and start smoking Mustangs/Supras:rolleyes: Its their one and only dream. It can be very useful in the right hands, but is placed in too many of the wrong hands unfortunately.:frown:

vtec28412
07-31-2003, 04:46 PM
Yes that is true, but usually the ricers that buy it won`t ever use it, they will just brag about it.
